Malia knew motherhood wasn't going to be easy but she wasn't expecting this.
The first few hours after taking her home were fine. She moved, peed, pooped and ate. Normal baby stuff. Played with her little toys and took a nap.
But then bed time came.
"Night night, sweetie." Malia said sweetly as she lay Tyler in her crib.
She cooed and looked up at her. "Don't give me that look. Bed time, kiddo." Malia smiled at Tyler and turned on her nightlight before leaving the room.
Taking a shower and having a meal before sleeping like a bear.
She got a shower at least. Then the baby started crying so she had to tend to her. But every time Malia put her down and left the room, she would cry. Malia tried everything. Trying to figure out what was wrong with this kid but the crying persisted.
Mercifully, Scott came back over.
"Hey, mama. Holy crap, you look like hell!" Scott blurted out thoughtlessly.
"Words every mother wants to hear.
She won't stop crying. I've tried everything." Malia said rocking her.
"So how can I help?" Stiles asked.
"Get her to stop crying so I can sleep." Malia said tiredly.
"Put her back in her crib. I wanna try something." Scott said. Malia__too tired to ask questions, just did what he asked. She still cried. But then he looked her in the eyes.
"Hi, munchkin. Why you keeping mommy up, huh?" Scott asked.
"Because she hates me." Malia said.
"She's a week old. She doesn't hate you yet. I'm gonna tell you a story." Scott said sweetly. Tyler started up at him lovingly and stretched out her arms. "You'd like that?" Scott laughed.
"She's quiet. How'd you do that?" Malia asked.
"Shh. Ready? Here we go.
Once upon a time, not long ago. When people wore pajamas and lived life slow. The laws were stern and justice stood. And people were behaving like they ought to; Good."
Malia stopped him.
"Slick Rick, Scott?"
Malia laughed.
"Yes. She doesn't know the song. Look at her paying attention." Scott smiled.
"Keep going." Malia said smiling.
"There lived a little boy who was mislead, by another little boy. This is what he said." Scott continued his song. She fell asleep somewhere near Don't know the meaning of water nor soap.
Slept for three hours.
It continued like this for three months. She finally slept through the night. Her first restful night was in her room at Scott's apartment. While Malia slept like the dead over in her own apartment. Covered in throw up and her own drool.
