Chapter One.
"Run!" The word echoed through the house coming straight from my mom's mouth, and I watched in agony on the stairs as the vampire buried his fangs deep into her skin. I clutched painfully hard onto the stair railing and held my breath. It has been two days now since the existence of vampires has been discovered. Two horrible, deadly days.
Tears slipped down my cheeks as I covered my mouth choking back sobs, and my feet stayed glued on the steps. My mother's eyes connected with mine before they slowly started to close, her head falling back limply. Staring in horror I watched the vampire drop my mother's blood covered body to the floor as if it was nothing and he sniffed the air his red eyes turning towards me.
I saw the cold blooded killer's face for the first time. The young looking vampire's hair was disheveled, going down to the middle of his neck and was curly. His hair was matted against his heart shaped face, with dry blood sticking locks of his hair together. His eyes- well all I really can say is they're frightening; blood red with what looked to be fiery orange.
The killer's lips were pursed as he assessed me, showing the young baby face he must have inherited from his parents. His body was crouched in a defensive stance, and his muscles pressed from the shirt- making it look as if the shirt was about to rip. Any other time I would have said he was on steroids- but you see I knew better. This man- no this monster was a killer that killed thousands- in cold blood.
I met his eyes again, and the killer's eyes darkened meeting mine before a large smirk formed across his face with two large fangs protruding from his lips.
That's when I ran.
I turned tripping up the steps, my knees banging painfully onto the edges of the stairs and I held in my sobs that wanted to echo out. It was bound to happen, I was going to die now and my mother and I had known this since this all began. My eyes landed on the shadow that ran behind me, and I yelped turning and entering the first room I saw, my room.
I struggled slamming the door shut, and locking it before pushing the large dresser in front of the door. Crouching down I crawled over to my drawers pulling them all out in search of my knife.
It has been two days now since the war broke out between humans and the vampires.
My fingers slid across my pink army knife, and I pulled it out. It shone in the light from the light bulb, and I held my breath everything becoming silent. Deathly silent.
A loud crack ran through the room and I looked up above my dresser my eyes landing on the hand that tore through my door. My eyes widened and the hand slowly grabbed more of the wood door tearing it off. I squatted and reached up slicing the knife across the hand. Shoving my knife into my pocket I stood up stepping back a few steps.
Just leave me alone. I begged silently.
Roars echoed from behind the door and I watched his hand reach down towards the door knob.
It all happened in slow motion then.
The handle twisted, and the door flew open. The dresser soared through the air and I cried out jumping to the right trying to dodge it. Trying being the key word- the dresser collided painfully into my ribs and I screamed. There was a shattering noise- and I knew that multiple items one of them being my window were now broken.
