Chapter 3

"Good morning" Paine greeted me with a warm smile; before walking towards me and laying a tray of food on my legs as I sat up and gave her a thankful grin. She nodded backing away and placing a hand on Adam's shoulder. "I hope it is to your liking. I apologize; I do not know what your likes of food are" Paine said as I brought the spoon up to my mouth taking a huge bite of the soup she gave me.

She waited anxiously as I chewed; then swallowed and I nodded. "it's delicious" my voice came out raspy and I made a disgusted face before clearing my throat. "Whoa I sound horrid" I exclaimed my voice cracking and I took another sip of the soup. "What happened?" I asked quietly.

"We were fixing up your wounds and you passed out because of the pain." Adam cut in before Paine could answer and sat down on the edge of the bed, letting Paine's hand slide off his shoulder. "I'm sorry" he said sincerely placing a hand on my covered leg his eyes sparkling with sadness.

"It's ok" I forced a smile leaning forward and patting his hand; wincing when I did so. "You didn't mean to hurt me" I said half way unsure if that statement was correct. These people were vampires for goodness sakes!

A large shiver ran down my spine as I tried to force it away; my hands shaking as I placed the spoon back into the bowl. Oh my god, what if they poisoned me? I'm so stupid! How could I just eat food a vampire gave me? They're evil how can I not know that? Why would I so easily trust these vampires?

Another shiver ran down my body; causing goose bumps to break across my skin and I shifted uncomfortably.

"What is wrong?" Adam asked curiously staring at me his eyes shining when the light hit them. "Does the soup not taste good?" I was surprised at how worried he sounded when he asked me this and I shook my head giving him a hesitant smile.

"No. It tastes delicious" I shifted again trying to get comfortable and let out a hiss of breath when pain went shooting through my upper body. My hands flew to my waist as I bit my lip applying light pressure and letting out a keen cry.

Great; I was probably brought here to be a midnight snack. What am I going to do? I can't even move to escape and they could kill me at any second! No wonder they brought me here; I am like the easiest prey of all, I'm wounded, hurting and cannot even move.

"Amanda? You Ok?" Adam asked interrupting my thoughts and I looked over at him dully sitting in silence.

What did he think, that I would be okay after being attacked by a vampire and losing my mom?! The thought flashed through me and pain tightened in my chest. Oh my god my mom...

How could I have forgotten? It dawned on me in that exact second that I was alone now, my mother gone, my father gone also and now I am the next one. These people- Monsters I corrected myself mentally before continuing; are going to murder me and no one will ever know because I am stuck here at their house! Where ever this is...

My eyes wandered around the room, before I let out a quiet breath and sighed. The walls were painted a light purple, with dark purple curtains on the windows that swooped down to the floor and were closed blocking the sunlight from coming in. Two doors were in front of me, then one on the right; I guessed one must be a bathroom, the other a closet and then a door out of this room.

I wonder if I can make it to the door and escape.

My eyes turned back to Adam; staring at his muscular arms and I shook my head mentally. No there was no way I could escape with him being that strong and Paine must be stronger than she looks too. Honestly I do not want to know how or why she has that name and I do not plan on trying to find out. I shivered my eyes flashing between the two of them before Adam spoke.
