"Go ahead, take your time." Ayda had stepped in as she realised Louis' concerned gaze was fixed on the boy and he had leant back in his chair away from his mic. Max nodded and placed his Capo on the fifth fret, positioning his hand in the G placement against the fretboard and then gave a curt nod off to Dermot to signal he was ready to start. The music begun and he started strumming the single chords at the right time singing the words slightly slower than in the original.
"All I want is nothing more,
To hear you knocking at my door,
'Cause if I could see your face once more,
I could die a happy man I'm sure."
His voice was matching the notes perfectly and his fingers strummed the chords perfectly in time also. Max had screwed his eyes shut, wrinkling his face as he picked up his strumming pattern for the second half of the verse
"When you said your last goodbye,
I died a little bit inside,
And I lay in tears in bed all night,
Alone without you by my side."
His voice cracked occasionally both from nerves and the raw emotion he was showing. All of the judges were shocked at the perfect voice and talent the boy had as well as feeling that the voice cracks only added to the atmosphere of the song. Louis in particular felt himself getting emotional as the familiar song took him back to after his Mum died and he played it on repeat.
"But if you loved me,
Why'd you leave me,
Take my body,
Take my body,
All I want is,
And all I need is,
To find somebody,
I'll find somebody.
Like you ohhh oh,
Ohhh ohh oh,
Youuuuu,
Like youuu."
Max hard worked hard for the instrumental and played it perfectly matching the backing track with his chords before singing the chorus again going back to singular chords.
"But if you loved me,
Why'd you leave me,
Take my body,
Take my body,
All I want is,
And all I need is,
To find somebody,
I'll find somebody.
Like you ohhh oh,
Ohhh ohh oh,
Youuuuu,
Like youuu."
The audience went wild, huge applause was heard and Max was given a standing ovation by both the crowd and all four judges who were also clapping. Max looked around the arena for the first time and was astonished at what he saw, no-one had ever told him he was good at singing he just busked to pay for food and wanted to show people, he was overwhelmed to say the least. Louis watched on as he saw Max gaze around in astonishment and as he covered his face to release the tears he was holding, Louis took it upon himself to go up on stage and surround the small boy in a hug.
"That was amazing kid." Louis spoke into Max's ear as he rubbed his matted hair in the hug. Max laughed through his tears at Louis comment.
"Happy tears yeah?" Louis continued and Max simply nodded into his shoulder. He released Max and ruffled his hair before roughly wiping the boys face to rid it of the tears, giving him a thumbs up and heading back to the desk where Simon patted him on the back as everyone sat down again, including Max.
