21| Understanding

"Donghyuck?" Donghyuck looked up to see his Mom and Dad walking to him. He just finished the call with Mark and he was about to take a bath. The two parents are looking so serious. He suddenly felt nervous.

"Mom? Dad?" He tried to sound not so nervous. But his insides are shaking.

"Can we talk to you?" His mom started.

"Sure mom why?" He looked at the both of them, his fingers fidgeting.

His dad decided to talk first. "We want you to be honest Donghyuck." He started. It makes Donghyuck's heart beat so fast. "Are you and Mark hiding something from us?"

Hearing the question made Donghyuck unable to hear everything else but the echoing question in his mind. He doesn't know what his Dad mean by that? "What do you mean dad?"

Both parents looked at each other. They don't know how to break down the question to Donghyuck. "Are you and Mark having a r-relationship like—other than being brothers?" His mom tried asking.

Donghyuck gulped.

The question, the confrontation, everything is so sudden. He doesn't know how to answer it. Why did this happen when Mark is not with him? What is he suppose to answer?

"I—i d..don—" He stuttered, looking at his parents. Everything is mixing in his mind right now. He is overwhelmed. He feels like crying. "I-i'm s...sorry....i'm sorry m-mom." His tears, finally bursting out from his eyes. He sobbed.

He kneeled in front of his parents and held their hands. He continued apologizing until his Dad and Mom told him to stand up and sit between them. "We are not angry son." His dad said. "Someone sent us a picture of you two, showing—let's say you two in a not so brotherly manner. We just want to hear it directly from you."

"I'm sorry Dad. I-i did not st-stop my...s-self." His dad rubbed his back gently.

"We already know this is going to happen. We are so sorry that your father and I's relationship is getting in your way." His mom explained. "But Hyuck, as much as I want to give you two my blessings, you're still brothers in law."

Donghyuck's heart broke, by just hearing that. He already knows where this is going. He badly want to confront them with what Mark had told him but it's not his position to say so. "So maybe it's best if we separate you two for a while, we can let Mark stay in Canada for a few more weeks or months. Those feelings will eventually die down. I'm sorry if we have to do this son." His dad said.

Donghyuck suddenly stood up. He can't stand this. "J-just talk to me again when I'm done crying." He said before walking to his room.

Dahyun saw him crying when he passed by her room. She didn't ask why and he didn't say a single word. He just smiled at her and went inside his room.

This can't be happening. This is all a dream.

Canada

"Is this it?" He asked Wendy.

Wendy unbuckled her seatbelt. Then turned to him. "Yes." She motioned him to step outside the car.

Today is the day where Mark is going to meet his biological father. This is his last day in Canada, tomorrow he'll be going back to Seoul. Wendy said their father is a busy man but he can definitely give time to his children.

They entered the mansion, Mark noticed that the house is just as big as his home in Seoul. His father is a wealthy man. Wendy led him to his father's private office in the house.
