"What are you doing here?" I ask shutting the door quietly behind me. If my sisters caught sight of Jin i could forget about having my turn with him.
Jin was a very handsome man. Something that was hard to come by in our village. Broad shoulders, tall, flawless skin, soft brown hair and a personality that could kill. Exactly what you would expect a noble born son to be.
All those factors result in him being prime meat for the village girls. Fighting over his attention like a pack of wild animals.
Jin frowns crossing his arms over his navy blue waistcoat. "Is that how you greet your employer?"
He wasn't really my employer, the king was, but he was the reason why I got the job in the first place.
Jin though noble wasn't stuck up like others of his kind. His never wanted to rely on his family for profit so he took up a trade of his own instead of continuing the one of his family name.
He became a tailor and he was good at what he did. He tailored every single piece of clothing that entered the castle walls and even some for far away lands.
So having him put in a good word for me was what really tipped me over the leader board.
"Sorry." I smile wrapping my arms around him "I haven't seen you in so long, it's the shock."
The brunette strokes my hair affectionately "mother and father called me back home to handle some financial business." He says " it was very urgent so I didn't get to say goodbye to you."
He's been gone for six months. He could have sent a letter in that time. To let me know he was safe. To let me know he was alive.
I pull away before I start to cry.
"How is your mother?"
"She's good, today is on the up so if you want to talk to her you can, she'll remember you."
He shakes his head "no, I just wanted to hear about how the job was going."
Truthfully? I hadn't expected it to be so easy.
My task was looking after the queen.
She was a kind women though very cranky when tired.
She never really left me anything to do. In fact she never gave me anything to do.
She took me shopping with her.
She let me sit and talk to her while she ate her meals.
She told me stories about when she was a young girl before she met the love of her life, the king.
She told me about what her sons were like when they were young. Never talking about what type of men they grew to be.
"Queen Irene is very gentle, she doesn't fuss." I say " they pay me for basically doing nothing."
From inside the house a round of yelling breaks out. The sound of glass shattering, then silence.
I turn on my heels to rush back inside to check on mother but Jin catches me by the shoulder. "Wait Taehyung, we didn't get to talk much, I need your help with a job so meet me after work tomorrow?"
I nod , not even having the concentration to use my words.
When my sisters fight they get violent and when they get violent they have no regard for others around them.
I'd have to be the wall between them. Take the punches and the mean words, because I knew they couldn't take it themselves.
Stupid girls.
"Bye Jin, ill meet you in the castle garden tomorrow."
The door shut.
