Ch. 5 - Uh Oh!! Part 1

~Shelby's POV~
About halfway through the night, I woke up to a commotion coming from down stairs, and Elvis, who was asleep in my room with me, heard the noise too and started barking. About two seconds later Nick burst into my room with a sheer look of panic on his face.
Nick - "Shelby! Go hide in your closet and keep Elvis quiet! I've called the police, they are on the way! Call Joe NOW!"
Me - "ok.. nick I'm scared!"
Nick - "I know! It will be fine"
  Nick pulled me into a hug and then ran back downstairs. I took Elvis and we hid in my closet. I immediately called Joe..
Me - "come on joey!! Pick up! Please!!" I whispered to myself, joe picked up a few seconds later.
Phone Call with Joe:
Joe - "hello?"
Me - "joey!! Someone broke into the house!"
Joe - "woah! Shelby slow down!! What happened?"
Me - "someone broke into the house!" I cried
Joe - "where's nick??"
Me - "I don't know! He went downstairs, I'm hiding in my closet with Elvis—- Joey he's coming!!!" I say as I drop my phone!
Joe - "SHELBY!!!!" I heard my brother yell.
-my closet door swings open-
    A man in a ski mask stood in front of me with a roll of duct tape in his hand. As he reached for me Elvis growled.
Intruder - "you better control your dog before I do!"
Me - "y-yes si-sir.... easy boy.." I cried as I calmed Elvis down.
Intruder - "now get up, and be quiet!!!"
   Tears streamed down my face as I nodded my head and got up. The man grabbed my arm and spun me around, shoving me against the door. He taped my hands behind my back, and led me down to the living room where Nick was sitting on the couch with his hands bound like mine.
Nick - "Shelby!!!"
Me - "Nicky!!" I cried
Intruder - "sit down and shut up!!"
   As I sat down next to my brother, my phone rang. I immediately recognized the ringtone, it was Kevin! I immediately knew why he was calling...
Intruder - "who's Kevy??"
Nick - "our older brother.."
Intruder - "Well y'all are gonna have to call him back later!" He said as he hung up the phone and left the room..
   As the intruder walked towards the kitchen with on of his henchmen, I looked up at Nick and whispered to him.
Me - "hey nick?"
Nick - "ya?"
Me - "I know why Kevin called.."
Nick - "why??"
Me - "I was supposed to call him today, but I guess I forgot!"
Nick - "that's alright, I just hope joe called him....
  As I agreed with nick, I could start to hear sirens outside the window, which made me realize that this was real and all I could think about was my parents, other 3 brothers, my sister-in-law,who's pregnant, my nieces and Sophie, Joe's fiancé..
~Kevin's POV~
-back in New Jersey-
    That's weird.. neither Shelby nor nick are answering their phones! Shelby never called me back like she was supposed, and I was about to try calling her again when I saw that I missed 3 calls from joe that's when I really knew something was up. So I called him back.
Phone Call with Joe:
Joe - "Kevin I was just about to call you back!!! Somethings wrong!!"
Me - "ya I know something's wrong that's why I called you!"
Joe - "so Shelby called you too??"
Me - "no, I can't get ahold of her or nick. So why would she call me??"
Joe - "because she called me crying saying someone broke into the house, so I figured she also called you, now what do you mean by something is wrong??"
Me - "Well Shelby was supposed to call me back, but she never did. I was about to try calling her again when you called.."
Joe - "oh.."
Me - "have you talked to Nick? Cause he didn't answer the phone either... joe I'm getting worried..."
Joe - "I haven't talked to nick but I'm gonna go over there and check on them..."
Me - "ok. Be careful!"
~Joe's POV~
Sophie Screams from the living room.
Just as I got off the phone with Kevin, I heard Sophie scream. I ran into the other room where she was at and saw that she had tv on.
Me - "please tell that doesn't say where I think it says!"
Sophie - "Joe!!"
The tv was on the local news station and it was airing live coverage of a hostage situation at my brother's house and Just as I saw that my phone rang, it was my mom calling me.. that's not good..
Phone call:
Me - "hi mom.."
Mom - "oh Joseph thank goodness!! I was beginning to think you were with Nick and Shelby! It's all over the news!"
Me - "mom I know, I was fixing to call y'all!"
Mom - "oh honey! Do you know anything? Are they ok? Have you talked to them? Your father is booking a flight for us and Frankie to fly out there! Have you talked to Kevin?"
Me - "Mom slow down! One question at a time! Shelby called, said she was hiding in her room with Elvis, but then I heard her scream. Nick was downstairs, and yes I talked to Kevin. I'm about to head over to nicks place now. I'll have Sophie pick y'all up from the airport when you get here, just give me the flight info."
Mom - "ok honey! Call me when see them and let me know if they are ok!"
Me - "I will mom. I Love you!!"
Mom - "I love you too Joseph!"
  I got off the phone with my mother, gave Sophie a kiss and headed to Nicks place. God I hope they are ok!
~no ones p.o.v.(AN: this is my first time writing like this)~
   Meanwhile back at Nicks house, the intruders, at this point, were getting irritated. Especially since they didn't expect the cops to come so quickly, and when Nick and Shelby tried to fight back, one of the intruders would hit them.
~Nicks P.O.V.~
   These guys have gotten pretty aggressive since the cops showed up. Now Shelby has a bruise that is starting to form around her eye, and I have a busted nose.
Me - "how are you feeling Shelby?"
AN: both Shelby and nick are diabetic(I will explain this in a later update)
Shelby - "yea, I think my sugars are low though. I'm also tired. How about you??"
Me - "I'm ok, my sugars are probably down too. If you want to, lay your head on my shoulder."
Shelby - "ok.. hey Nicky??"
Me - "yea Shelby??"
Shelby - "Do you think Joey got ahold of mom and dad??"
Me - "if you got ahold of Joey, I'm pretty sure the entire family knows by now! Which is a good thing."
   While Shelby and I were talking, I could hear a set of tires screaming to a stop outside. When I looked out the window(AN: the intruders were stupid and left the curtains open) I saw a sight for sore eyes, my big brother was there! That was a relief, except the intruder saw him too, and it made him smirk evilly.
Intruder - "Well Well Well!! Looks like big brother just up!!" Shelby's head popped up at the sound of that.
Me - "what does he have to do with this?"
Intruder - "any big brother is gonna be willing to do anything to save their younger siblings, won't they??"
     When he said that, I immediately thought, oh shit!!
