I walked onto school grounds and looked around for my friends and saw my friends Ally and Peggy. Peggy sees me and waves. I walked over, grasping my backpack over my shoulders. "Hey." I say as I stepped on the sidewalk to my friends. "I can't believe we're already starting high school!" Ally exclaimed. "I know right?!" Peggy jumped up and down excitedly. "Quinn, have you seen Ben yet?" Ally looked at me while Peggy started making kissing noises with her mouth. I rolled my eyes. "I'm not sure if he's here yet." I looked around. Ben was one of my close friends. We liked to joke around and just hang out. Everyone likes to say we would make a cute couple, and yes I'll admit, I do have a crush on him. But I enjoy being friends, and I'm glad even if we don't start dating. We haven't seen each other over the summer, so I kinda missed him. Ally, Peggy, and I talked before school started. I looked over to where Ben's friends were standing. There he was! I wanted to walk over and say hi, but i decided not to. We would have plenty of time to talk this year. When the bell rang, I walked into the school with everyone else and went into the office to be directed to my first class. I walked there, following the room numbers. I walked in and took a seat in the corner of the room. I set my heavy backpack on the floor. My good friend Harper walked into the classroom, and I waved over to her and pointed to the seat next to me. "Hey, Quinn! Its good to know you're in my home room!" Harper smiled. I smiled back. We compared our schedules and found out that we had the same clases all day! The bell rang and I went to the auditorium for an assembly. We got our locker numbers and combinations. I put my backpack in my locker and hung up my mirror, calander, and pictures. I set my binders on the locker rack under my backpack. I set a cup of pens and pencils on the built in shelf at the top of my locker. I slammed the locker door closed and went to my next class. Three periods later, school was dismissed. I walked outside and turned on my phone. I played around with it until I saw my older sister, Faith, driving her car into the pickup loop. I walked over to her car and swung the door open. "How was school?" She asked, switching the cars gear into drive. "Eh, the same as always. Boring." I shrugged. She looked at me in shock. "But you were so excited for school! Especially now you're a freshman!" I sighed. "It's school, Faith. Its never amazing unless you have a snow day." I picked up my phone and texted Ben.

Quinn
How was your first day?

Ben
Okay, I guess. It was nothing special.

Quinn
That's exactly what I thought!

I played games on my phone until we pulled into the driveway. "I have to go shopping for groceries. Mom and dad are working. I should be home in an hour or two." Faith said, handing me a spare key to the house. I nodded and pulled the car door open. I walked up to the door and unlocked it. I slipped my shoes off and ran upstairs to my room. I put my backpack down and sat down at my desk. I pulled my notebook and grabbed my pencil in the corner of my desk. I started on a new story. Writing took a lot of stress off of my chest. It was how I could jot down my thoughts in someone else's point of view. I walked downstairs and realized my stomach was growling. I grabbed two apples from the fridge and sliced them up. I grabbed carmel from the cupboard and scooped some onto my plate. I brought my plate into the living room and switched on the tv. I set my plate on the coffee table and pulled back my long, thick blonde hair into a messy ponytail. I sat in the living room for about and hour and heard my sister open the door. "You good, Quinn?" Faith yelled, checking on me. "Yes, I'm watching tv." I yelled back. After Faith finished putting away the groceries, she walked into the living room with her cup of coffee and sat next to me. We talked about school and other random things. My sister got up and put a pizza in the oven. "Why aren't mom and dad home yet?" I asked her, walking into the kitchen, where she was making salads. She had a look of panic in her eyes. "Uhm, they might still be at work." I raised an eyebrow at her. "Okay then." Faith slid my bowl of salad over to me with a fork and i sat at the table and started to eat. We ate dinner and I got ready for bed. I sat on my bed and plugged in my phone, laying down. I worried about my parents, and drifted off into a fitful, restless sleep. I woke up to the voices of my parents talking in brisk voices. They both seemed angry. I listened to their tone, not being able to make out their words. I knew there was something wrong. I started to cry as they raised their voices. I couldn't take it anymore. I plugged in my earbuds into my phone and listened to music so I couldn't hear them. Why were they fighting? My tears rolled down my face as I closed my eyes.
