The lights flickered above you as you appear to be laying down on the ground, glancing from side to side. You heard frantic footsteps that you could tell were running as the sounds grew closer and closer before slowing to a halt.
"Y/N..."
"You have to wake up..."
"Please..."
Your alarm clock pulls you out of your strange dream. You remember seeing a blurry figure that seemed to be a human, but at that point they were just a blur of blue, brown, and white. Their voice was so hoarse and high pitched, almost as if the person had been crying when they spoke.
You paid no attention to it as you got up with a groan, punching your alarm clock so hard it cracked. You rolled out of bed and fell on the floor with a small bang. You didn't want to get up and you already knew you looked like shit.
You eventually stood up and got ready, gazing in the mirror in front of you with a sigh. Your H/L H/C hair was put up in a flurry ponytail (unless your hair is too short) and a short F/C dress. You weren't really one for being girly, but your parents were strict about what they say is "how you should dress", which is basically meeting every single gender stereotype out there.
Usually, your parents would be gone by now, so you could wear what you wanted, but today was one of those days. You waved to your mother before snagging a pop tart, slipping on your converse, and walking outside to catch the bus as you ate the pop tart. Luckily your mother wasn't cruel enough to buy unfrosted.
You walked into Harry Herpson's High School, waiting near the entrance for your best friend, the one and only Summer Smith to walk through the doors and walk to your lockers together. The second you saw the familiar pink tank top walk through the doors, you catch her in a tackle hug. She screamed at first, but it soon turned into loud laughter as she hugged back.
"Why are you so excited, Y/N? You see me every day!" She giggled as you let go of her.
"What, is it wrong to be happy to see my best friend?" You said right back, placing your hands on your hips and leaning forward with a small smile. She simply laughed more at this as you guys continued to walk.
"No, it's just you haven't done that before!" She stated with a small shrug, pulling out her phone and opening her Instagram.
"So..." You start before dragging out a long dramatic pause to start walking. "Anything new in your life?"
She immediately perked up, causing her orange ponytail to bounce lightly. "My grandpa moved in. He took over the garage with his weird science stuff and one of our two guest bedrooms is now his. He managed to get everything in the house within two minutes. He had two boxes, one labeled "lab" and the other labeled "bedroom", yet it was enough to fill the whole garage and guest bedroom with furniture and gadgets."
You didn't pay much attention to it since she was talking so much, the only thing that seemed to stick in your brain was that her grandpa moved in and took over the garage with his science stuff. After that, you sort of just spaced out.
"I think you should meet him. He's really cool."
That snapped you out of your thoughts. The mere thought of meeting new people already made your stomach turn. You put your backpack in your locker and took out anything you needed before sighing, hesitantly nodding.
"Sure, alright, I'll meet him. Can't be that bad, right?"
