The adrenaline that ran through Katsumi eventually died down. She walked down the desolate pavement, the street light illuminating her path. She was surrounded by various boutiques, bakeries - quaint shops that littered what seemed to be a town. As the first rays of the morning sun hit a window pane, Katsumi knew she had to find shelter. It was best to stay hidden.

Just a little longer and she could finally start her new life. She knew how persistent Kaname was, when he was set his mind on something he would do anything to reach the goal. He had his eyes everywhere, Kaname's jurisdiction wasn't limited to just the night students but the the council over elders; a government formed by pureblood families or what is left thereof. These dying bloodlines marry each other in order to preserve their pure blood, the marriage between siblings were common amongst us. Kaname and Yuki were engaged early on whilst Juri and Haruka were still alive. It was the perfect match.

If I were to stay by his side, soon enough I would have been used as a political pawn. Married off in exchange for power.

My pace quickened and in the corner of my eye an inn lingered just at the corner of this boulevard. A sigh of relief left my chapped lips. With every step my throat tightened, the sound of my heart beat ringing in my ear.

DING DING! The bell chimed announcing my presence to a woman who sat behind the front desk. "Welcome dear to the Dairymaid Inn, how may I help you?" she squeaked. Her  face was gaunt, she seemed to be drowning in the cloth of the uniform assigned to her.

"I would like to stay here for four nights. Any room will do, but I would like to request room service on my own terms," Katsume mumbled audible enough so the woman could decipher her words.

"Of course, just let me check the book for an open room," she trailed off staring intently at the pages. Katsume couldn't help but notice every small detail of the woman, from the way her stringy blond bangs cover her eyes to the slight fidgeting of her hand when spoken to. Human have come as a fascination. Because of her race, she always kept at an arm's length away from humans. Now she could finally taste freedom. "So I see an open in room 43B. It includes a full-sized bed with a full bathroom. I have the key right here and would you like me to show you the way?" she motioned to the keys placed on the desk.

"Yes, please lead the way," Katsume said as she awaited the woman to show her room 43B. The walk there was quite, after a few turns, they had finally made it to her room.

"My name is Mina, call the front desk if you need anything. Enjoy your stay Miss," she gave a timid smile before turning her back, making her way back to the front desk. Once Mina had left, she walked into what was going to be her living situation for the next four days. She set down her bag, heading or the bathroom.

The dirt and grime on her body slid off with the water pelting down on her skin. She lingered there in the shower for a while longer. What does she do with this newly acquired independence? She needed to blend in with the rest...but how?
