So recently I've gotten into Doki Doki Literature Club, a super good video game that isn't what it seems. Anyway, one character in the game, Monika, gives you some advice:
"Sometimes, when you're writing a poem - or a story - your brain gets fixated on a specific point. If you try so hard to make it perfect, then you'll never make any progress. Just force yourself to get something down on the paper, and tidy it up later! Another way to think about it is this: if you keep your pen in the same spot for too long, you'll just get a big dark puddle of ink. So just move your hand, and go with the flow!"
This actually helped me a lot.
This poem was a bit accidental. I came up with like, the first three lines and just went from there.
I hope you enjoy!

THE EDGE

I stand at the edge
Staring into the darkness
Watching, waiting

I'm not sure what I'm waiting for
But I have a feeling
A curious feeling
An apprehensive feeling
A feeling of importance

So I stand at the edge
Staring into the darkness
Watching, waiting

Sometimes I wonder if I'm wrong, and that I shouldn't be waiting
Or if it's waiting for me instead, and I should go to it
Maybe I should go find it; walk into the darkness and call out

I take a step towards the edge

But something pulls me back

A little voice inside my head, telling me:

"It is not your time."

So I step away from the edge
Look up into the darkness
And walk away

Knowing that when my time does come,
Whatever was in the darkness
Will come find me
And we will leave this place forevermore
