Chase

I knew that I was being watched when I killed that turkey, so I acted like I didn't see them and just walked away. When they go up and started leaving, I followed them.

When they got to town I left so I could go sell the turkey I caught. I walked into the butcher's shop and put the turkey and 2 squirrels I had caught earlier on the counter.

The old, almost blind butcher didn't even look up when I put my catch on the counter.

"You must be the new boy. It's your first week here and I'm already hearing stories 'bout you. So what can I do for you boy?"

"Well, you are the butcher right?

"Yeah, what you want?"

"I got some fresh kill I want to sell"

The butcher looked at the counter for less then a second and instantly told me. "I'll give you $25 for the turkey. Keep the squirrels, got plenty of them"

I handed him the money, grabbed my squirrels, and left.

I dropped the squirrels in my game bag, and decided to take a walk. I soon bumped into the girl from the woods, literally. I was turning the corner and so was she and we ran into each other. We both fell back, but she was much smaller then me so she fell on the ground.

I reached my hand down to help her up. She smiled up at me and took my hand, I pulled her up.

"I'm sorry, you ok?" I asked, genuinely concerned. I mean I'd only seen her twice, never talked to her, and I just made her fall on her butt.

"I'm fine. Hey weren't you the guy from the woods who shot the turkey?" The girl asked. She had black hair and beautiful greenish-blueish eyes.

"Well I was in the woods just a while ago and I shot a turkey. I also saw you and that guy there. And after I shot the turkey I heard that guy yelling. So yes I guess I was the guy that shot the turkey"

"Ah. That would be my brother. I'm pretty sure he hates you." She laughed despite the negative sentence. "He got pretty mad that you shot that turkey, even though it was still fair game. He's just... competitive."

I laughed at that. "My name's Chase. What's yours?"

"Autumn," she said, brushing dirt off her pants.

"I'm sorry I knocked you down. I'm also sorry I kinda took your turkey, take this" I reached into my game bag, pulled out one of my squirrels, put it in an extra bag I had, and handed it to her.

She laughed again. "You don't have to apologize or give me anything. My brother's just a lunatic."

"Take it, I have another one. Plus it might calm your brother down." I held the bag out to her.

She laughed and took the bag. "Alright. Will do."

I smiled at her. "It was nice meeting you Autumn. Do you think you could show me around? I'm still kinda new, so I don't know where much is"

"Sure," she said, smiling. "I'd be glad to help."

"Thanks" I smiled "So where is your favorite spot in this place?"

"Well, there's this really big tree near the woods. It's old, but very sturdy, and all the limbs are strong and low to the ground. I've always loved climbing on it or sitting in it. It's just the beauty of nature, I suppose."

"Could you take me there?"

"Alright. Follow me."
