Owen's POV

I was staring at Claire with a blame expression, a Beck's beer in my right hand. She was hysterical about the fact that I said that I left her. Nothing funny about that though is there? Especially when it's the truth.

I really just wanted to get this over and done with, there was no point in me being here. I just wanted to get what she had to say over with then I could get back to living my life.

I knew what this was all about, I got a call earlier and they want Blue, she needs to be protected they said. I'm not so keen on the idea, Char and I had just got used to being out of that World. I don't just want to drag her right back into that again.

It broke her heart last time, I wouldn't want her to go through that again. Although we both raised Blue, she might not remember us. That will break her more than anything.

"Seriously? I can't believe that you think, you left me." After getting over her hysterics, Claire finally said something. Distracting me from my thoughts.

I sighed. "Replay that conversation in your head, all right? You said, 'You wanna go live in your van like a bum? Go ahead, Owen.'" Claire giggled slightly, then focused on my words. "And I said, 'Okay!'"

"So how is that you leaving me?" She questioned.

"Because I left. I left you." I answered.

"You left because..." She used her hands to signal her explanation. "I told you to."

Doing the same I pointed down at the table. "And then, I left. Because you didn't wanna live in a van on the side of the road."

"No, no, no. Because you wouldn't let me drive the damn van, for 5 minutes!" I gave her a questionable look and then smirked.

"I'm chivalrous. What can I do?"

Claire rolled her eyes. "You are so stubborn."

"Well, look at you now." I itched my eyelid, then shrugged again. "You're saving the world."

"Well, I'm trying, at least. You can't just run away from everything, Owen." She replied.

I changed the subject, I didn't need a lecture from her. Of all people. "So, you're what? Dating an accountant now?" She looked away and rolled her eyes once more. "An insurance actuary?"

"Your skin looks nice." She looked at me all shocked, as if I'd never complimented her before. But this wasn't a compliment. What came next was about to wind her up.
"Dermatologist?"

"Owen?" She tried to question and stop me from asking.

"Does he check you for moles?"

"Stop." She ordered, but I wasn't finished.

"Ventriloquist?" I smiled to myself.

She put her head in her hands and sighed. "This is not why we're here, okay?"

"Yeah, I know why we're here. Lockwood's little flunkie called me. Rescue op. Save the dinosaurs from an island that's about to explode. What could go wrong?"

"I'm going." She suddenly blurted out.

I groaned. "Don't."

She shook her head. "I don't have a choice."

"What?" I scrunched up my face in confusion. "Of course you have a choice."

"So what, I should just... Build my own cabin, play pool and drink beer all day while these dinosaurs go exinct?" She looked so frustrated as she spoke.
