‘New month equals new school.’ Kresley Jacks thought with a sign as she made her way through the stuffy, cluttered hallways of Greenport High School. Everyone giving her weird glances, because normally people don’t move to a place that still has about seven layers of snow still on the ground in late May. But then, Kresley didn’t really. Her parents are crazy like that.
Kresley sighed again thinking about how one minute she was lounging in her favorite chair in the shade in Taos, New Mexico and now she’s wearing layer after layer attempting to preserve some heat in Greenport, Long Island. Her parents can never keep put. They pick the smallest towns in the country, hoping they don’t get publicity. If they do, better start packing.
She was so caught up in her music she didn’t notice the thick wooden door opening to her left aimed straight for her.
She didn’t know how to react so she clenched every part of her being waiting for the impact. She was so tense she didn’t even notice someone grab onto her bright green backpack until the force of the dingy yellow lockers made her fling her mint green eyes open.
The first thing they sought out was a honey brown, somehow almost grey if you looked at them a certain way, pair of irises. ‘So beautiful. So different.’ She let her eyes travel down her mile long “rescuer”.
His physique consisted of jet-black hair that almost covered his left eye, a very defined and chiseled jawline, and a tanned, lanky but muscular body. His mile high body downed a plain black tee, a thick brown leather band with an intricate design on his left wrist, dark jeans, and black biker boots.
Kresley blushed realized she’d been staring at the beautiful stranger and quickly moved her eyes to look back at his strange but intriguing eyes.
She held onto her breath and she watched the dark-haired male repeat the same track she did. His eyes soaking up every detail.
Golden blonde hair that fell to the middle of her back in crazy waves. Almost as if they shaved it off of a lion and placed it on her. Her rosy cheeks that matched her promise and secret holding lips. The thick black and white striped sweater matched with black skinny jeans and red low cut converse topped with a black petticoat that came down to the bend in her legs.
It all worked to make her slight curves noticeable. She coughed, hoping to get his intimidating eyes off of her. She looked to her left and to her right, hoping someone would call his name and have him go their way. But no such luck. As she glanced around she noticed there was no sounds coming from all the students in the cluttered hallways, everyone had stopped. Just staring at Kresely and the stranger who she had yet to name.
“So um, could you like let me go? I have to go turn this in…”
She held up a sheet that had ‘REGISTRATION’ written at the top in big bold letters. He nodded and stepped back. At his movements people seemed to start moving again too, acting like nothing ever happened.
Kresley took a hesitant step forward as if she was stuck in a puddle for super glue. When she got about four feet in front of the man she turned to look at him again.
“I’m Kresley by the way. Thanks,” He nodded, not saying anything. “This is the part where you tell me your name, we fall madly in love and you change your schedule to look exactly like mine…” His head shot up, and she stuttered. “W-Which would be pretty stupid if I do say so myself because I just got here and you’ve obviously been here for a while…”
She looked at him for a while waiting for him to say something or at least give her his name. But no such luck. So she just lifted her hand in a slight wave and started to slowly make her way down the hall.
“Its Chryder,” A deep silky voice called after her. “My name. Its Chryder.”
Kresley stopped and listened. She would’ve been shocked if he- well now he was Chryder- said one word to her, let alone six. She turned to look at him and pointed to herself. “Me? Are you saying that to me?”
He nodded. “You said it yourself- I’ve been here for a while, everyone knows my name. See you around Kresley.”
