She was just sitting there. Looking so innocent, listening to her music. To the normal human eye she was- just an innocent girl watching a kidney transplant to get the final grade to pass. Taking notes about what goes where, how do slice and dice up a living, breathing body.
The man pulled a handgun from the inside pocket of his leather jacket, cocking it. Everyone screamed running away, but she didn’t. Not hearing him of course.
I aimed a little lower. My barrel pointed towards her stomach. Not wanting her to die suddenly, but to bleed out. Excruciatingly painful, even to those who watch it take place.
He took a breath, preparing myself for the kill when he busted in through the window slamming a knife straight through his chest. She shot up, having felt the sharp pinpricks of glass, and saw him crouching over my body. She walked over to him and pushed him away from me, panicking when she saw all the blood from my being on the floor and on his hands.
“Who or what are you?”
She took a step back away from him. As if pressing herself closer to the wall was going to hide her any in the bright lights radiating from the operating room.
“Its me.” He stepped towards her.
Stepping over my body to get closer, kicking the knife still protruding from the man’s pectoral muscle, reaching a bloodied hand towards her.
“No. No its not you. Don’t even try that. The guy I knew wouldn’t have killed a man just for shits and giggles. I know what I saw. And what I saw was. Not. You.”
He took another step forward. “This is all just a dream. You’re hallucinating, everything will be fine-“
She shook her head. “I know what I saw! I’m not in shock! I’m not hallucinating! I know damn well what I saw! Now, I’ll ask again. What. Are. You.”
“The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious…”
