Chapter Two
As it turned out, Leah did have good luck with her parents. By the time she had crawled through to the house they had already left on some trip to gods-know-where. Looking down at her stained outfit and lack of a shoe, she was really happy not to have to make excuses to them. What would she say? Attacked by a bush? She could not very well tell them the truth. She was about to walk up the stairs and scrub herself throughly in the bath when she was attacked from behind, burly arms wrapping around her and lifting her into the air.
Her twin, Luke, twirled her around and then set her down in front of him, inspecting her for injuries. His eyes lingered on her cheek and ankle.
"Chill, Luke. I am a big girl and I found my way home without incident." she assured him.
His brows creased together for a minute, giving her an intense blue stare, clearly assessing her claim. He could always tell if she was lying, as she could tell in him. It was a twin thing. After another moment he cracked his classic lug-head grin at her and steered her upstairs.
"You were pre-tt-yy drunk tonight sister, maybe I shouldn't have taken you out... father would kill me. Hell, he'd probably kill the bar owner too if he ever found out."
Leah made a face. "You're not any older than I am, so stop acting so superior."
They traced an odd path through the mansion, waiting in corners for a time, stepping on furniture, and even moving a mirror or two. They had long since discovered how to get around their paranoid father's camera system. If they could help it neither of them would ever show up on tape. "So how did you get home?" he asked once they had reached the second floor.
"I tripped in front of some biker guy while trying to find my way back to you guys. We went back to the bar and looked for you, and when you didn't show he took me home." A question suddenly occured to her. "Why didn't you come back when you realized I was missing?"
It was Luke's turn to look abashed. "I forgot you were there."
"Lie"
"Ok, ok, Ashley came home with me." He averted his eyes as his face grew more and more red. His blond hair would have curled from embarrassment if it could have. "I would have known if you were in any real danger."
Leah decided to stop grilling her brother. I was impossible to be anything but amused when her burly, six foot three brother acted like a kid with a kindergarten crush. He was quite the lady killer at school, being the classic honor student and football captain, only she got to see this vurnable and silly side to him. Anyway she did not want any more details on Ashley, who Leah happened to know had been waiting months for the opportunity to sleep with her brother. She was a total slut, what her brother saw in her she would never know.
"I'm tired, and we have school in the morning. I'll tell you all about my night when you tell me all about yours." she said, knowing Luke would rather die than to tell her all the gruesome details. She slinked into her room and got ready for bed, her thoughts swirling around a certain biker. Oh, well, she thought, it's not as if I will ever see him again.

The next morning Leah decided to clear her mind of thoughts about the mystery man from last night, she had other things to worry about. Like her test on a certain middle English epic that she had not read yet. Normally she was an average student, but when it came down to middle English she just could not grasp it. Some words were totally foreign and strange while others looked familiar but meant totally different things. Her teacher kept on insisting to the class that if they would just ignore all the little odd words and get the gist of the story it would be a lot easier to understand, but Leah was a stickler for detail and just couldn't do that.
