Jaune stood before Cardin breathless using his sword to hold himself up. After regaining some of his breath he charges at Cardin only for him to dodge and swing his mace at Jaune. He is barely able to block the attack losing him shield and falling to the ground. Jaune fighting technique is... Well... Nonexistent. He maybe my friends but, it really makes me wonder how he got into Beacon in the first place with the way he fights. He charges at Cardin again and swings his sword only for Cardin to block it with his mace. He starts to push Jaune back.

Cardin: This is the part where you lose.

Jaune: Over my dead-

Cardin then knees Jaune in the stomach and he arches over in pain and falls to the ground. Cardin prepares to finish the job by bringing his mace down on Jaune head.

Glynda: Cardin, that enough.

The buzzer for the match sounds and lights for the small arena come back on. Ms. Goodwitch steps between Cardin and Jaune, who is still on the ground.

Glynda: Students, as you can see Mr. Arc's aura has now dropped into the red.

She signals up to the two screens above the arena. One has a picture of Cardin with the meter measuring his aura in green. The other has a picture of Jaune, his aura was almost completely depleted and in the red, like Ms. Goodwitch said.

Glynda: In a tournament style duel, this would indicate that Jaune is no longer fit to battle and the official may call the match. Mister Arc, it's been weeks now, please try to refer to your scroll during combat. Gauging your aura will help you to decide when it is appropriate to attack or when it's better to move to a more... defensive strategy.

Jaune sat there on the floor looking at his scroll.

Glynda: We wouldn't want you to be gobbled up by a Beowolf, now would we?

Cardin: Speak for yourself...

Cardin threw his mace over his shoulder and walked out of the arena. He was your average school bully, it really pissed me off knowing that he was going to a school where people become heroes, and he's acting like such a villain.

Glynda: Remember everyone! The Vytal Festival is only a few months away. It won't be long before students from the other kingdoms start arriving in Vale, so keep practicing! Those who choose to compete in the combat tournament will be representing all of Vale.

I look over to Yang, Weiss, and Ruby, who all display there excitement for the tournament, and I can't blame them. Students from all over Remnant are going to be competing in this. I can't wait to see just what kind of people we'll be up against. Just thinking about it gets me pumped. After Glynda's announcement the bell rings and class gets dismissed. Me, the rest of RWWBY, and JNPR all go to the mess hall and sit together for lunch. Nora began to tell the group a story about her and Ren's 'adventures' before Beacon and Yang seemed to be the only one interested in the story.

Nora: So... There we were... In the middle of the night...

Ren: It was day...

Nora: We were surrounded by Ursai.

Ren: They were Beowolves.

Nora: DOZENS OF THEM!

Ren: Two of 'em...

As Nora continued with her story, I noticed that Jaune had a odd look on his face. Like something was on his mind, and Ruby and Pyrrha gave each other a concerned look. If I had to guess they were probably thinking about that jackass Cardin.

Nora: But they were no match and in the end... Ren and I took them down and made a boatload of Lien selling Ursa skin rugs!

Ren: Ah... She's been having this reoccurring dream for nearly a month now...
