It was just a normal day of April in New York, slightly windy but sunny. I never expected today to be special or any different from any other day in my life. I was waiting for the train when a gust of wind from an on coming train blew a piece of paper against me, then pushed it off and away. A young woman passed by running after the paper.

I watched her until she caught it, taking her place off to the left of me waiting for the train. I sheepishly looked over at her, but quickly turn away not wanting to stare. Then another train came by, this time blowing one of my papers on to the woman's face. Slightly shocked, I quickly reached out and took it off her. She gave me a smile of gratitude turning to me. And in that moment time slowed, she just as I seemed caught in a trance.

She had short brown hair with side bangs showing her deep pair of brown eyes. She wore a simple skirt and blouse. The only bit of colour was a shade of red lip stick. Me, on the other hand, well I wasn't anything special. I had a big nose and boring straight black hair, my eyes were a dull colour in between brown and grey.

Her eyes then moved to something, breaking the trance and she let out a small laugh.

I looked down at my suit thinking that something was on me when I noticed her lipstick on the piece of paper I was holding. Upon noticing this I chuckled and looked back at the girl but she was already on the train. I stared after her as her train started to pull away from the station, she looked over her shoulder one more time at me.

I didn't even get to learn her name I thought, now bummed out that I most likely would never talk or see her again.

When my train came I climbed on and head to work.

As an accountant my job wasn't anything special or particularly exciting. I get to work at around 9am every morning and start filling out financial reports. Today was no different except for the fact that I could not stop thinking about the red lipped girl.

My eyes kept wandering to the paper with the red lipstick print that I had placed on my desk. I turned my head to look out the window to find something else to focus on other than the paper when I saw her.

I quickly jumped up. Cupping my hands around my eyes and pressing against the window I could see it was indeed her. Opened the window and started waving my arms around trying to get her attention, other than yelling and risk having my boss see what I was doing.

Well that didn't work I thought sitting back down, how else am I supposed to catch her attention.
Then a thought hit me, of course why hadn't I thought of this before. I grabbed a piece of paper from the pile beside me and started to fold it.

Once finished I positioned myself in front of the window and threw it. The paper air plane soared through the air and..................fell.

I grabbed another piece of paper and folded it. This one got close to the building but again missed. Again and again I kept folding and throwing. All of them missed. There I was just about to throw the next one knowing that it had to work this time, when my boss came up behind me, slammed the window shut, leaving without a word.

Either way I was determined, I continued to make the paper air planes, having the same results. With every paper air plane that missed I got more and more frustrated, but never stopped.

I went to go grab another sheet of paper and my hand hit the empty tray that held the paper knocking it to the floor. The other workers turned towards me. Any moment my boss would be out there, getting the boot wouldn't work kindly for me. I looked back out the window and saw she was leaving the building. Out of desperation and the fact that at this point I had nothing to loose, I picked up the paper with the lipstick marking and began to fold it. I turned and stood in front of the window positioned to throw it when a gust of wind came and blew it out of my hands. I tried to grabbing it but it was already out of reach.

There was a galloping in my chest, Foot tapping in earnest. I couldn't miss this, this girl had transfixed me and I was one who didn't leave things alone so quickly. A door opened and closed behind me, knowing that sound only meant one thing. I looked down to the sidewalk and spotted the red lipped woman. My decision came quick.  And it was quickly stopped as I made a quick turn around smacking into my boss. Like I mentioned at this point I knew that I had nothing to loose, so I dipped around him grabbed my jacket and hat bee-lining for the door.

I burst out of the building hoping to see her and continued to run across the road to the side she had been walking on. practically killing my self made to the other side looking around and running my hands through my hair out if frustration. She was nowhere in sight but, in front of me lay the lipstick marked paper air plane. I grabbed it and threw it as hard as I could away from me, then trudged back to the train station to go home.
