One Tree Hill ~ Lucas Scott

Chapter One

Since there was a game to night I carpooled with Peyton, which meant I had to deal with her crazy driving i'm surprised she hasn't killed someone or herself with how reckless she drives.

    After the game Peyton and I were driving to her house so we could have a sleepover.

     "Hey, could you pick a different CD?" Peyton asked looking at me. I nodded and began looking for a descent CD. "You finding anything?" She asked as she looked in the back with me.

After looking for a couple seconds we find something to listen to so I looked up "Peyton watch out!" Right as the words came out of my mouth Peyton slammed on the brakes and we came to a stop right in front of Lucas Scott, Dan and Karen's son that i've never really talked to.

I have been friends with Nathan for as long as I could remember, My mom and his mother Deb worked together and we just so happen to live next to each other so it was kinda destine for us to become friends.

A couple days later I'm sitting in Peyton's room "Ok, let me get this straight Nathan challenged Lucas, Lucas took Nathan up on the challenge so tonight we're going to the river court to watch them battle it out." I said trying to understand everything that Peyton just said but it was honestly a lot to process.

"I know its a lot to take in and i really wish i had more time to explain it to you but we got to go met up with Nathan." Peyton said walking out her room and I followed.

"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to an historic night of basketball. I'm Mouth McFadden, along with my gamey partner, Jimmy Edwards, and, Jimmy, we're in for a treat tonight." Mouth announces while sitting on a picnic table on the side of the basketball court.

"So if you're not doing this for your dad, then why are you doing this?" I question looking a Nathan.

"You wouldn't get it." He replied and I rolled my eyes and look at Peyton to see her just as frustrated as me.

"So what if this guy plays? Are you really that threatened?" Peyton says joining in on the conversation.

"I'm not threatened." Nathan states and I honestly think that, that is a load of bullcrap he wouldn't be so defensive about it if he wasn't threatened by Lucas.

"Well then, why do it? To prove a point? What if he wins what does he get?" Peyton ask and i'm glad that she asked because I did not want to.

"He gets Liz." After Nathan said that my eyes widened and so do Peyton's.

"Just moments before the stroke of midnight, and still no Nathan Scott." Mouth McFadden says

"And it looks like Nathan Scott has arrived, driven by car right onto the court." Mouth states as Nathan,Tim Peyton and Liz all pull up in Nathan's car.

As the 4 of us get out of the car the crowd around the river court started chanting Nathan's name. Soon the game begins and the chanting and cheering just grew louder.

"Come on Nate, lets go!" I cheered along side of Tim who was also cheer and Peyton who was just watching.

"Okay, folks, here we go - 15 by ones. Make it, take it, win by one, and you can feel the intensity in the air." Mouth says as the two players got ready for the game to begin.

As the night continues the game becomes tied and the crowd around the two high school boys start to cheer louder.

"He's never mentioned you, not once in all these years." Nathan says trying to distract is opponent Lucas from making the winning score.

"This is for my mom." Lucas said and right after he made the winning basket.

Nathan walks off to the side of the court sulking and Tim follows like the lost puppy he is without Nathan.

"So what did you bet?" I ask Lucas as he walks toward Peyton and I.

"I win, Nathan stays on the team." Lucas states making me confused why would he won't Nathan on the team if all Nathan does is cause him problems, but I guess thats what makes Lucas a better person than Nathan.

"Why?" My blonde haired best friend asked him before I did.

" Because it's the last thing he wants. And anyway, it's not about him." Lucas replied but that made me even more confused. First he wants Nathan to stay on the team even if he is a dick to him. Secondly he says it's not even about Nathan, which I mean I guess it could be about Dan but maybe its something else that I have no idea about.

"Peyton, Liz" Nathan says from behind us, wanting us to get in the car so he can take us home.

"I'll be seeing you." Lucas says to both Peyton and I.
