Chapter 1

Eterna's PoV
"Aaahhhh! Omp!" I grunted as I fell to the ground with a thud. I abruptly began to run once again as I glance behind me to see my pursuers not fazed. I once ran only to abruptly stop. The reason - I bumped into her. And she doesn't look pleased at all. I back away a few steps and looked behind. My face asking for help. My supposedly pursuers stopped and gave me a silent sorry. They turned around and left me.
'Great' I thought.
I faced her to be met by a dissapointed mother.
"hehe...he" I awkwardly stated.
"How many times do I have to remind you, not to play chase with the wolves?" She told me clearly worried."What if you got hurt? You know the pups are rough and you still played with them. What am I gonna do with you?" She told me.
She could have been ranting for hours enumerating her worries if, she was not stopped by the alpha.
"You do know she's fine, right?" Alpha peered from behind her.
"I can perfectly see that Alpha. I am just worried. You know she's different from the pups." She voiced out.
"Come on Gem, don't you have faith in her?" He asked her."You were the one to ask us to keep her. I was hoping you would believe in Eterna. She's strong. She could take care of herself." He added.
"Besides being different makes me unique." I told her.
"Fine." She said with resignation in her voice, knowing she wont win this argument. Then added,"Just be careful."
"No worries, Mum." I replied snuggling close.
"Now now, stop hogging your mother Eterna." Alpha said sulking.
"Hahaha. Course Dad." I said chuckling. Mum released me and Dad happily approached her open arms. As he reached her, he stuck out his tongue at me. While, I shook my head because of my Father's antics.
"Run along child." Dad said while flicking his paw in a shooing motion.
"Alpha!" Mum said as she hit Dad in the back of the head. While he whimpered covering his muzzle with his paws.
I chuckled to myself as I heard Mum scolding Dad. I turned around running, facing west, hiding behind a boulder. Climbing atop it I looked around taking in the scenery. The sun was setting reflecting a beautiful image on the clear waters. You could clearly see carps swimming under. I sat down, listening to the song sung by the forest when, I heard a crack of a branch just behind me. I turned around to see a shaggy brown wolf crouching low with it's head bowed down and neck exposed as a sign of submission. It whimpered tilting its head to the side. I jumped down from my perch nearing it while, it stepped closer rather warily.

"What are you doing here, Ekon?" I asked him.

"I was wondering if you're okay.", he answered getting closer until he was at arm's length.

"I'm fine.", I stated. He got closer and sat on his hind legs licking my cheeks, nuzzling my neck.

"Are you sure? I know it has been hard with the pack pressuring you but, I'm always here for you. You do know that right?", he said wondering.

"Of course I do. It's just that-I don't really fit in you know. With the fact that I'm not a wolf like you guys along, with the naming ceremony coming near, It's really hard"

"You may not Look like a wolf but you certainly act like one", he said, chuckling(if you could call a rumbling in your throat that).

"We should head back. The moon is starting to rise.", I rose up with him following me. We slowly trekked to the path back to the grounds.

But as we did so, I still couldn't accept the fact that I, Eterna Winters, am different the wolves I call pack.
