I sit on the couch and turn on the TV. The news was about my town. "Today there was a dead female found in the woods, the following images may be unsettling to some viewers, so if you have a weak heart or do not want to see disturbing images, please change the channel. The victim was found with a carved smile and no eye lids." I turn off the TV and sigh, going to the fridge to get a nice root beer. I go upstairs to have a nice rest, the skies getting dark as the sun sets. I get into my pajamas, hop into bed and relax.

There is a loud crashing sound. I jolt up, startled at the sudden awakening. I walk down stairs and see a hooded figure roaming my house with a bloodied knife. I carefully, gently, press myself against a wall around a corner, and peek out to watch. He snooped around my house, not seeming to care about the furnishings, T.V. silverware, or anything. He prodded cushions here and there, as though checking for signs of life. As he went into another room, I had a feeling I should wait for a sec, and I watched as after a sec he quickly leaned back out from the room, eyes darting around the room in case anyone hiding had gotten out. He ducked back in, and I took this chance to head to the kitchen, quietly grabbing a knife, while I ducked behind the couch. I heard the intruder leave the room he was in, and walk around the living room, heading to the back of the house where I came from. I had a sudden urge to quietly follow him, but I thought that it would be more logical to just leave the house and get help. I slowly stood up and took a step, but my leg hesitated for a moment, as thought my body was asking if this is what I wanted to do. I continued and quickly opened the door and ran towards the woods. I found a small lake near the edge. I heard quick footsteps quickly catching up as I ran. I saw the person who broke into my house right behind me as I jumped into the water. He stood at the edge of the lake as he waited, curious. I stayed in the water looking up, waiting to see if he would follow me. I had a strange feeling to swim to the other side of the lake. I quickly did so as I saw a massive splash of bubbles as the strange man had jumped in after me. My instincts then told me to play dead at the bottom of the lake, and I did. I relaxed my muscles, my face buried in the muddy lake bed. My chest flat on the ground. I waited, feeling the current in the lake shift as the killer approached slowly. Then, everything was still, very, very still. After about thirteen minutes, I felt another shift in the water, and everything was still again, I waited another ten minutes before finally moving and getting out of the lake and heading back to the house. The moon was high in the sky, my drenched was barely able to grab the handle to close the door. I locked everything and left the mess in my house and slept in my closet under all my dirty clothes in my hamper.

I went back to the lake where my target seemed to have drowned, to find their body gone. I went back to their house and broke in, entering through a window. I searched the house, but nothing had seemed to change, it was still a mess, there was no one in the bed, on the couch, and I couldn't bother to check under every single furniture or object. I left and looked for a new target, marking my old target as 'ASLEEP'.
