Slang(noun) - a type of language that consists of words and phrases that are regarded as very informal, are more common in speech than writing, and are typically restricted to a particular context or group of people.
Try to refrain from using slang, because it is viewed as unprofessional in terms of proper, formal writing. It's not the end of the world if it comes up once or twice in character dialogue, but anywhere else is a no-no.
Wrong - Harry txtd Louis, "u looked so hawt 2nite, bb.xx"
Right - Harry texted Louis, "You looked so hot tonight, baby.xx"
It's considered acceptable to modernize your writing by adding personality (the x's) in some cases, to make it more believable. It is also acceptable to swear for that same reason.
Haha. Imagine if it weren't...
"Shoot, Louis," Harry moaned, "You're so frickle frackin' tight!"
Also, if I see you use emoticons in your writing, I will be forced to personally remove your guts from your anus.
NOOOOOOoOOoooO - Harry was painfully hard for Louis xD :') ;) <3333
Yes - Harry was painfully hard for Louis.
