Lucy was sitting on the floor of the makeshift hospital room, surrounded by all of the other women and their children. They had been hiding there for what seemed like forever.  For endless hours she had heard shots and explosions from just a few feet away.

She could hear the men screaming as battle went on. And every time she hoped that it wasn't Wyatt's screams - that the soldier she had grown fond of was still alive and fighting.

Maybe even fighting for her.

But that was just wishful thinking. Why would he even see her that way? He had a wife he was desperately trying to get back and she was just . . . lonely.

As another explosion hit quite close to the building they were in, Lucy began to shake and breathe shallowly. She was having a panic attack and all she could see was water, so she closed her eyes tightly. She felt everything close in around her.

Wyatt wasn't here this time to pull her from the shock, but she could still feel his presence. She could hear his calm voice softly saying, "Breathe Lucy, just breathe. In and out."

The historian started to get control of herself and again she heard the husky voice speak. "Good, just like that. You're safe Lucy, I'm right here."

Lucy continued to breathe steadily as she listened to Wyatt talking in her head. She didn't want to open her eyes because she feared that the voice would disappear. She could almost feel the heat radiating off of his body even though she knew he was somewhere among the death and destruction of it all.

Suddenly, there was a strong hand on her shoulder and her heart leaped. 'Wyatt.' she thought. But when she turned around she looked up into chocolate brown eyes instead of her soldier's crystal blue ones. 'He's not mine.' she reminded herself.

Although she was disappointed that Rufus was standing there and not Wyatt, she was glad the tech had finally appeared. It meant that he had gotten to aqueduct - there was a way out. She stood up quickly and hugged her friend. "Come on, let's get out of here." he said. Lucy nodded.

Seconds later both her and Rufus were ushering the women and children in the direction of safety - their escape. As they headed out of the building Lucy remembered the thing they could not leave without. Wyatt.

"You go. Get them to the aqueduct." she commanded. Rufus stared at her for a moment.

"I'll go get Wyatt." she explained.

The man nodded that he understood and left with the rest of the group. When they had gone Lucy took a breathe. "Okay, you can do this." she said to herself. And off she went.

When Lucy exited the building she looked on in horror at the bodies covering the ground. Her eyes quickly scanned for Wyatt. Eventually she found him huddled behind a cart that had been turned over.

Her breath caught when an explosion went over only a couple feet away from him. Lucy started running in the direction of the cart.

"Wyatt!" she shouted with excitement. Almost immediately after she called his name, Wyatt spun around so his eyes could find hers. Lucy's heart pounded in her chest. He was okay.

But as she ran, Wyatt's eyes abruptly changed to concern. The fear infected her and instantly realized what she was doing. Then she heard her name being yelled out, telling her that there was danger near by.

She looked away from Wyatt only to get trapped in the gaze of a Mexican soldier; and his gun was pointed straight at her. There was nothing either of them could do as the bullet exited the chamber and entered her body.

Lucy felt the sharp pain explode in her stomach and she screamed in anguish. She slumped to the ground with one name trembling on her lips. "Wyatt." She could feel the blood seeping into her clothes.

Then she saw his face. His gorgeous eyes veiled with concern for her. Lucy sensed her aching body being shifted. She moaned at the throbbing in her middle.

She heard Wyatt speaking above her but couldn't quite understand what he was saying. He sounded sad. Lucy was suddenly aware that she was being lifted by strong, protective arms.

And then everything went black.

The sound of Lucy calling his name in the midst of all the chaos caused Wyatt to be pulled from his state of shock. He looked up frantically and began searching the dusty battlefield for his historian. 'She's not mine.' Wyatt reminded himself. Although he wished with all his heart it weren't true.

Finally he saw her running towards him through the smoke. There were bullets flying everywhere and Lucy was only looking at him. Wyatt continued to stare at her running. It was like a slow motion scene in a movie. She was running, but it seemed like she would never make it to him.

Wyatt suddenly heard the click of a gun being cocked. How he heard that one sound out of all the noise around him, he would never know. Maybe it was because this time the gun was aimed at Lucy. Quickly, he turned back to her and called out in desperation,

"Lucy, look out!" But it was too late. Wyatt heard the shot and watched as the bullet pierced the woman's abdomen.

She cried out in pain. The howl echoed through the air. And he felt it. He felt everything. It was almost like he was the one that was shot; but this was worse. MUCH worse.

He raced toward her with every ounce of energy that he had; disregarding all that was around him. When he arrived at her side, he saw that Lucy's already dirty dress was now soaked in blood. 'This is all your fault!' he scolded himself. Somehow a tear, he had fought so hard to keep in, found its way down his cheek. As he brought her closer to his body, Wyatt heard Lucy whimpered.

"Don't worry, I'm gonna get you out here." he promised resolutely.

Then he bent over, picked her up carefully, and adjusted her so that she was safely cradled in his arms. And he began walking towards the church where the aqueduct was located.

As he held her, Wyatt remembered what he had said to Lucy back in Nazis Germany. "Figure out what you're fighting for, and you'll be okay." He took a deep, but shaky breath. 'Well right now' he thought. 'I am fighting for Lucy.' Because that's (she's) all that really mattered to him.

Hey guys, I'm sorry if this chapter was too long or too short. I haven't written fanfictions in a long time so I would really appreciate your thoughts on how I'm doing so far. If you catch a misspelling or you have any ideas on how you think the story should go I would love to hear it!

I really miss this show. I'm sooooooo excited about the 2 hour movie/finale that they're doing in December!
