After finishing their breakfast, Wyatt went to go get dressed. Because, as he explained to Lucy, he couldn't simply go bowling in his boxers. Although she silently begged to differ.

As he headed for his room, Lucy couldn't help but gaze after him. 'That man sure kept it tight.'

She had just completed the task of washing the dishes, which she insisted upon doing, when he came from down the hall. He was wearing a pair of khaki shorts and a camo green shirt that had ARMY in big bold letters across his chest.

Lucy glanced between them and realized how odd they looked together. Not "together-together" because that was never going to happen.

She had given up that fight. As much as she wanted Wyatt, and wanted to be with him, she knew that certain things would always keep them apart.

She let out a discouraged sigh as she gazed off into the vast space between them.

"What's wrong?" asked the disconcerted man in front of her.

Lucy jumped at the sound of his deep, booming voice.

"Nothing, nothing. Just . . . lost in thought." she spoke softly.

Wyatt nodded as to say that he was content with her answer. Then he clapped his hands together, smirked at her and said, "Well Ms. Preston, are you ready to go bowling?"

After a few minutes of convincing, he finally got her in the car. The alley was about half-an-hour away from Wyatt's house so Lucy knew they couldn't be silent the entire ride. She was, reluctantly, getting ready to state some obscure fact about history when Wyatt saved her. Again.

"So, you've never gone bowling before, huh?" he asked.

She shook her head, slightly embarrassed. "Nope. I usually spent my weekends and summers reading my mom's history books and writing my own."

She had expected him to laugh and make some comment about how she was such a nerd, like everyone else in her life had done. But instead he just nodded and said, "Well, you've missed out on a lot of fun."

The rest of the way Wyatt talked about the rules of bowling and how you never want to be the one person with their safety railing up. He told her funny stories of how his grandfather and grandmother used to take him the the bowling alley all the time as a kid.

"They were even in professional leagues!" he stated excitedly.

Soon they pulled up into a parking space and Wyatt turned off the car. As Lucy stepped out onto the hot asphalt, all she could do was stare at the huge sign above her that read, "Bill's Bowling Alley".

She was so entranced by it that she was startled by a comforting hand on the small of her back.

"Come on." he said in a deep voice and guided her toward the front entrance.

Everything around them was from another time. Another era. The disco ball and lights above them. The bright patterned floor below. It was like they had gone on another mission in the Lifeboat. But this time they didn't have to worry about being shot at.

After the Wyatt purchased a game of bowling and they traded their shoes for ones specific to the sport, the two made their way to their table.

Wyatt showed Lucy how to select the perfect ball.

"How 'bout this one?" she asked him.

He laughed heartily at the innocent look she had on her face.
