Madam Pomfrey returns and tells me to head back to my common room. I don't bother to reply, remaining silent with my head lowered in shame and embarrassment as I leave the hospital wing. I walk in silence to the portrait of the fat lady.

"Password?" Her portrait asks.

"Mimbulus Mimbletonia." I yawn.

The portrait swings aside and I crawl through the hole in the wall and into the common room where Fred and George are sitting on a couch and smirking triumphantly at me. I flip them off as I pass by the couch before rushing up to my dorm. Abby waits for me on her bed.

"How did it go?" She asks hopefully.

"I have detention with my mother for a week if that answers your question." I mumble before laying on my bed and burying my face in my pillow.

"That's going to be rough, I'm sorry. How much detention did the twins get?" Abby asks, sitting beside me on my bed and patting me on the shoulder.

"They didn't get any. They blamed it all on me." I sigh. Abby gasps.

"Well, we're just going to have to get them back, aren't we?" Abby says after a moment of silence.

"I'm not in the mood. I have my first detention soon, and I'm just really hoping I won't be 'writing lines'." I grumble.

"Well I'll deal with the twins while you're gone if it would make you feel better?" Abby suggests sympathetically, phrasing the sentence as if it's a question.

"Yeah, thanks." I sigh, turning to lay on my side.

Abby tilts her head in concern and sits on the remaining space on my bed in order to lay a hand on my shoulder. Tears prick at my eyes, threatening to spill over my cheeks and I turn my face back into the pillow.

I knock on the door of my mother's office at five pm on the dot.

"Come in." I can hear her answer through the door.

I open the door and walk into the office which is a color of pink that's painful to the eye. I notice that she's brought all of her ridiculous plates with moving pictures of cats on them that I have always hated.

"Ah, Joslyn there you are. Have a seat." My mother says, gesturing to the seat in front of her desk. "Tea?"

"No thank you." I sigh.

"Alright." She nods, her faux kind voice creeping into her words. "Now then, I have to say that I am not impressed with your attitude thus far, nor was I impressed by your actions earlier this afternoon. I know that you can do better, Joslyn.

"I'm sorry." I reply quietly, biting down on the inside of my cheek.

"Unfortunately, sorry isn't good enough. You must not step out of line." My mother replies. She sets a scroll of parchment and a blood red quill on the desk in front of me. "You know what to do."

I nod and reluctantly pick up the quill, writing 'I must not step out of line' in my own blood over and over again. Blood drips down my arm, staining my robes. I wince but I don't dare stop, repeatedly writing the line that etches itself into the skin on my left hand, not that you can tell. The top of my left hand is a muddled mess of scarred words and blood. My mother watches me tear my own flesh apart for more than two hours before she decides I've had enough.

"I think that's enough for tonight, come back tomorrow at the same time." She frowns, standing over me. I nod, refusing to reply as I get to my feet, leaving the red quill and bloody parchment on her desk.

I head back down to the Gryffindor common room and find the twins running around the room like crazy, trying to collect their pants that have been strewn around Gryffindor tower. As I enter the common room they both turn to look at me, frustrated and exhausted.

"Did you do this, Umbridge?" George asks.

"No, Ive just gotten back from detention actually. Thanks for that by the way." I answer, my jaw set in anger.

"Why are you all bloody?" Fred asks, taking a step backwards as he gazes at my arm.

"I'd be more worried about collecting your underwear from where they're hanging above the fireplace. This isn't Christmas and those aren't stockings." I comment dryly, walking past them and put the stairs to the seventh year girls dorm.

"How did it go?" Abby asks cautiously. I hold out my blood covered arm in answer. "Oh no, I'm so sorry."

"It's fine, I'm used to it by now." I say, chuckling quietly. "What you did to the twins is hilarious though."

"Well thank you." Abby giggles. "They were out talking to Lee Jordon and plotting something so I snuck up into their dorm and.. well, you saw."

I smile as she talks, and wave my wand at my arm to evaporate the blood and bandage my hand. I then change out of my bloodstained robes and into my pajamas. Suddenly, there's a loud crashing noise from outside the dorm on the stairs. I move to open the door and peek outside. I don't see anyone but the stairs have turned into a slide, meaning a boy has tried to climb them. I roll my eyes and close the door agin.
