Trin arrived to her new school in Hesperia, with high hopes of good grades and new friends. He and her boyfriend, Maxwell were both being transferred. Her transfer went in before his so she was stuck at the school without him for a week.
She remembers being lost on her first day of school and receiving help from a handsome senior. He introduced himself as Charlie, the ASB President. Soon they grew to like each other as the week went on. He had invited her to a party he was hosting over the weekend, and without thought of consequence, she accepted his offer and went anyway.
Two beers and four shots of Tequilla later, she was pushing Charlie against the wall with her tongue down his throat. The rest of the night, was a blur. She woke, surprisingly in her own bed, the next morning with a killer headache and a pain him her lower abdomen. Soon she realized what she had done and already felt the guilt and regret.
It wasn’t till Monday morning when she found that the whole school knew of her adventure over the weekend. She stood in the hallways, trapped like a wounded animal as her new peers spat names at her. ‘Slut’, ‘Whore’, and many more came from their mouths. Someone had cleared their throat and Trin turned, seeing Matwell stand there emotionless. Before he could ask, her attackers were telling him what happened. I was trapped; I was stuck in the center of it all.
When he had enough and pushed away from the ominous group, most followed so she had her chance to run. She ran around the corner only to come face to face with Charlie. She nervously told him what the school knows but he refused to help; he had a reputation to uphold, and an election to win. She held her tears in as she turned from him, knowing she would have to wear this metaphorical ‘C’ on her chest.
It was months later when she talked to Charlie again. During PE he had snagged her by the wrist and pulled her behind the bleachers where they wouldn't be seen. taking advantage of this, they shared a kiss before Charlie blabbed about his plan. She listened intently, he wanted to drop out and live together at his parents vacation home. they wouldn't need jobs, because his family is well off economically as he told her. Filled with excitement, she agreed, feeling as if this metaphorical Scarlet letter was lifted from her burden.
Maxwell had found out about their plan, and was thirsty for revenge. He found out what day they were to leave and devised a plan to get his precious revenge.
Quicker than she thought, the day came when they would leave this wretched school forever. Unknowingly Charlie had a goodbye gift for the school, and literally dragged her in the center of it. He had pulled her to the center of attention during their last prep rally as he began to announce what happened that day at the party, how he was the mystery man she was with. The Gym was quiet till one student stood and pointed at the couple. First, she thought they would receive mockery but instead, were welcomed by bullets. The student was Maxwell and he had a gun. He shot, almost blindly at them but a few bullets did hit home, four crimson holes in his spine as he tried to protect her. His body slumped in her arms and blood splattered onto her clothes and face.
Meanwhile once He saw that Charlie was dead, Maxwell turned the gun on himself and decorated the students behind him with blood and brains. Trin watched this unfold in front of her as she sat, mortified. In the chaos of the shooting she was able to shakily escape. This was her last day at the school, for she was never seen again, not by her classmates, not by her parents, never seen again by anyones eyes.
