Just Watching The Sunset...

Alan watched as the Chaos Cruiser exploded. He couldn't believe the Hood would kill his own niece. As he watched the Hood, Havoc and Fuse fly off in a different space capsule, he wanted to fly after them and strangle them. He was so angry with himself for not getting there fast enough to save Kayo. Suddenly, a familar hologram popped up on the screen. "Don't worry. It's not that easy to get rid of me."
"Kayo! Where are you?"
"Look out of the window." Alan looked out and, sure enough, Kayo was clinging to the outside of Thunderbird 3.
"How the heck did you get there?"
Kayo smirked. "Amazing what a magnetic grapple can do."
Alan grinned. Nothing else mattered at that moment, the only thing he cared about was that Kayo was ok.
As soon as she was back inside Thunderbird 3, Kayo ran towards Alan and hugged him. "I'm so glad you're ok!"
Alan rubbed her back reassuringly to make sure she was actually there and he wasn't imagining it. "Me too." Then he pulled away from the hug and punched her arm playfully. "You scared the life out of me!"
Kayo smirked. "It's what I do best." Then, becuase the was feeling brave, she kissed his forehead. Alan turned scarlett. They stared at each other for a while before Kayo cleared her throat. "I'm gonna go... get something from the cargo hold. See ya!" And, in a spurt of confidence, she winked slyly at him as she dissappeared through the door. As the door closed, she leaned against it and put her head in her hands. Why the heck was her heart beating faster than usual?
As soon as Kayo left, Alan started smiling like a lunatic, still blushing like a tomato. He did a little happy dance around the room, quietly screaming "She kissed me! She freaking kissed me!" Suddenly he heard laughing. He spun around and saw John, EOS, Virgil and Gordon's holograms on the screen, laughing their heads off. Alan glared at them. "One word about this and you're all dead." The door opened behind him and Kayo walked in. "Ready to go?"
He smiled. "Yeah, let's go." Today's events had taught him about the fragility of life.
He had to tell Kayo he had a crush on her.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was a couple of weeks later. Alan and Kayo were fully healed from the oxygen deprivation they suffered back at Saturn. The GDF were now searching for the Chaos Crew and Kayo's footage made this a whole lot easier.
There was just one loose end yet to be tied up.
Alan was yet to tell Kayo he like-liked her. He had just been waiting for the right moment. And hopefully that moment would be tonight. They were both sitting on the beach, watching the bright orange sunset. Virgil and Gordon had refused to come with them, claiming they had a "very important rescue" to attend to, but Alan knew they would be stalking them for the whole evening.
He looked at Kayo. She was so beautiful in his eyes. The sun was hitting her head at just the right angle so that it looked like she was glowing, but anyone who knew her knew she would kick your ass without a second thought. To Alan though, she still looked like an angel.
He decided to say something. "So, thanks for saving me back at Saturn."
Kayo shrugged. "Eh, no big deal. It's like you said, when someone means the world to you, if they're hurt, you hurt too."
"I mean the world to you?" Alan blushed.
Kayo paused and thought about it. "Yeah. You do."
Alan reached over and squeezed her hand gently. "Thanks Kayo. You mean the world to me too."
They heard muffled squealing from behind a tree before another voice hissed "Shut up, you're ruining the moment!"
Kayo and Alan glanced at each other and burst out laughing. As soon as they recovered, Alan thought back to their time with the Chaos Crew. There was something that had been bothering him ever since. He decided to bring it up. "Kayo? You know when we were back at Saturn? Why was the Hood calling me 'your boyfriend'?"
It was Kayo's turn to blush. "Um, I dunno. Probably to annoy me."
Alan swallowed. This was it. The moment of truth. He had to ask her. "But, if I, you know, asked you to go out with me, what would you say?"
Kayo took a moment to consider. Alan. He made her laugh. He knew her better than most people. His smile was enough to cheer her up when she was having a bad day. She could get lost in his deep blue eyes. He meant a lot to her. That was the moment when everything fell into place. She loved Alan. She always had done, she'd just been too much of a coward to admit it.
Alan waited for Kayo to answer. The awkward silence was killing him. It was stupid to ever think she'd like him back. He braced himself for the imminent rejection. "It's ok if...."
"Alright."
Alan was confused. "Alright, what?"
Kayo rolled her eyes. "Alright, I'll go out with you, ya dumbass!"
Alan's mouth must have been hanging open because Kayo laughed at him. "Shut your mouth."
Alan was speechless. He resisted the urge to do a victory dance. "You mean t? You'll go out with me?" Alan was on Cloud 9. If this was a dream, he never wanted to wake up. It was too good to be true.
Kayo sighed. "But why would you want to go out with me?"
Alan looked her in the eye. "Name one reason why I wouldn't."
"I'm the Hood's niece, I keep too many secrets, I..."
Alan tilted her face till she was looking at him. "I love you just the way you are."
Suddenly a loud bang came from behind them and confeti rained down. "Congratulations!!! You two are finally together! Pull the party poppers!! 🎉🎉🎉"
"You're ruining the moment here!!!" Alan laughed.
"Oops, um, Gordon? I think we better start running."
Both Alan and Kayo were laughing their heads off as they watched Virgil and Gordon legging it along the beach.
And I think that's how we'll leave them, standing on the beach, the only thing in the world that matters is each other.
Oh yeah, and Virgil and Gordon are still hiding in a bush stalking their OTP.
I think I'll go join them. Byezie bye!
And that, my friends, is the end of Helium 3. Please comment and tell me what you think! I might make a sequel, but I'm not sure what'll happen in it. Anyways, I'd like to thank all of you for reading! You're all awesome! Also, thank you Gerry Anderson for creating Thunderbirds all those years ago! R.I.P. 😢.
Byezie bye!
