ALESSIA'S P.O.V.
Three years.
Three years of my life, I'd been here. Away from my Sister and father. Nigeria is actually a very nice place to stay. When I was there, the people there were so welcoming and strong.
If there's anything I admire in this place, it's the people. Their constant, everyday struggle. It's like everyday is a new opportunity to make things different and one day, it just might pay off.
Now, I'm back home with my mom and sister. Turns out my father was a cheating asshole but we still make it work even though he's not with us anymore.
As long as we have each other, everything will be okay...
"Hey." Nick said as I reached him in front of my locker.
"Hey." I smile, ignoring the fluttery feeling in my stomach.
Nick and I gave grown close lately. It's really funny how we met.
He slammed the door in my face and from then on, he didn't let me leave his side. Not that I'm complaining.
It's not like I enjoy all the glares thrown at me when we walk side by side in the halls, but it definitely has some perks to it.
Unfortunately, he has a girlfriend and is off the market. I really don't want to ask him why he's dating the worst human being on the planet. I don't want to seem pushy or anything.
"Hey, babe."
Think of the Devil and he appears. Or rather, she appears in this case.
Yup, you guessed it. To those who don't know already, Nick is every freshman girl's dream.
He's the exact picture of a magazine cover boy and it's no wonder he's with the schools most desired female or Queen bitch as my sister calls them but luckily for her, by the means of her amazing self, she and the Queen bitch - or ex, if you will- became friends. Well, how about that?
Needless to say, I don't like her or her little posse one bit.
Makayla Simmons, Nick's girlfriend. She apparently has it out for me and is typical Queen bitch material. Unfortunately for her, I know just how to handle them. Just ask Zarha.
My stomach churned when Nick saw her and smiled, pulling her in for a quick kiss and a hug. Why? I don't know.
I didn't miss the wicked glare she sent my way over his shoulder. I rolled my eyes at how pathetic she really is.
Nick is an amazing guy. I've only known him for a short time but he really is something else.
He's the kinda guy any girl would be lucky to have and here she is, with that opportunity and she's not even the least bit sincere.
My sister once told me that the reason why we close our eyes when we hug, kiss, or cry is because the most beautiful things can't be seen by the eyes but can only be felt by the heart.
This, right here is a clear indication that she's only with him because for her, he's arm candy.
When they pulled away from each other, I had to swallow to keep my breakfast down.
Then again, if I puked on her, that wouldn't be so bad now, would it?
"I'm gonna... go to class now." I awkwardly say to him. I can't take another minute of this.
I don't know why but I just can't because... I don't know what it is.
But I think I like Nick. He's just so sweet and kind and funny and smart that it's so hard not to like him.
