"Are you ready to go babe?" I was shocked. For once I was ready to go on time and Scotty wasn't. Now I understand how he feels when I make us thirty minutes late every time we have to go somewhere.
"Sorry, I couldn't find my socks." He laughed, slipping his shoes on and grabbing a box of presents. I opened the door for him, holding it so he could get out of the house. When he came back and got the other box I shut the door and locked it, following Scotty to our car.
"Wait are we going my parents' house first or yours?" Scotty and I stared each other for nearly two minutes before either of us remembered.
"Mine."
"Mine."
I looked at Scotty confused. I could've sworn we were going to my parents' house first. Just as I was about to text my mom and ask, Scotty's phone went off.
"Hey, are you guys on your way?" He read his mom's text out loud, and I immediately started laughing.
"I guess that answers our question then." I giggled, and I reached my out, pointing my finger towards the street.
"Onward, my trusty steed!" Scotty just shook his head and pulled out of the driveway, a small smile painting his face.
"This is a car, not a horse. And you were pointing in the wrong direction you dorkface." I stuck my tongue out at him playfully, my fingers reaching for the radio.
"You're picking a Christmas station, aren't you?" I grinned, turning the volume up.
The rest of our car ride consisted of Scotty turning the volume down, me turning it back up, and the two of us calling each other names like we were in second grade. Normal for the two of us if you ask me.
When we finally got to his parents house the nerves had finally settled into the pit of my stomach. I was meeting his family for the first time and I knew I would somehow find a way to embarrass myself. Scotty seemed to notice my hesitance to get out of the car, as he turned towards me and grabbed my hands.
"My family will love you just as much as I do, okay? Stop freaking out, everything will be fine I promise you." He sent me a reassuring smile before getting out of the car and grabbing one of the boxes of presents.
I got of the car slowly, walking behind Scotty and watching my feet so I wouldn't trip. I tend to be extremely clumsy when I'm nervous.
"Scotty! You took so long, is everything ok?" He explained what happened, my short figure hiding behind him the whole time. It took his mom almost three minutes before she noticed me standing behind her son.
"You must be Y/N! It's so nice to finally meet you, Scotty talks about you constantly." I watched at Scotty facepalmed, his mom hitting him on the shoulder before she stepped forward, bringing me into a hug. I stood there awkwardly hugging her back, until she finally let me go and ushered the two of us inside.
The night went fairly well, and I only stumbled a couple of times. Thankfully, they didn't say anything when I did. Besides Scotty of course, because, well he's Scotty. We opened presents later that afternoon, and after we had lunch we unfortunately had to go. His family was wonderful, and it was really warming the way they just welcomed me into their home.
Scotty ended up mimicking my reaction when we got to my parents' house, and I calmed him down the same way he calmed me down. My dad instantly took a liking to him, which was incredibly unexpected as he was always very cold to my past boyfriends. And my mom basically fell in love with him, as did my younger brother. Scotty was, and I quote "so much cooler" than me. But it was totally fine, because I was happy to know that my family accepted Scotty as much as his family accepted me.
Christmas was most definitely a success this year.
