Chapter 3
The car pulls over into a parking lot, almost completely filled with cars. We park in front of a large building, loud music playing from inside, barely audible from inside the car. The men on both sides of me step out after Sal, the left door left open for me to get out. I stay where I am, staring out the window in front of me, I fold my arms together painfully, flinching slightly.
"Allura," Sal says, voice slightly impatient. "get out,"
"Non una possibilità," Not a chance, I sneer in Italian.
"Uscire adesso!" Get out now!
Suddenly someone grabs my arm and flings me out of the car with one stern yank. My back collides right into one if the mens chest, he push me forward into the other mans arms. As we begin to walk my head becomes dizzy once more, making it even more difficult to walk. We step into the loud building, people leaning against every inch of wall and standing one giant group, making it difficult to get through.
The sound of peoples laughter, slurring words and the loud music intrude my mind making it hard to even hear myself. I start to mumble insults towards Sal Ilario and his men, even with how loud I insulted them the music still blocked out the sound of my voice.
We turn right and head up a flight of stairs, my legs threatening to give in. The only thing keeping me from doing so was the rough hand around my soar arm. Dark shadows begin the fly across our faces as we reach the next floor, the room slightly darker than downstairs. The door closes behind us quietly as we reach the center of a large room where about 5 men are waiting patiently on a couple of chairs and a couch. They all turn to look at us, scanning us up and down carefully. All their eyes freeze on me, some with curiosity and others frowning.
"You're late," a man sitting in a chair on the left side of the room, a window of all the people below facing his shadowed back. "again."
"we ran into some trouble, but as you can see, it has been cleared up." Sal says motioning to me at the last part. I raise my one of my eyebrows and scan the room slowly, throwing dirty looks to those frowning at me.
"So you finally found someone." he says standing up, a small glass in his right hand. He stops in front of me then walks once around me, looking me up and down. "What happened?" he asks turning to Sal.
"Like I said, we had some trouble." Sal turns to me slightly to show his displeasure, apparently noticing I was glaring at the people in the room.
"Hmm, I see, so are you sure about this one?"
"Yes, it took a long time to decide, but she was the best one of all of the rest." so he had been watching me along with others, and exactly how did I not notice? Maybe I should be more observant. How stupid can I be? A lot apparently...
"And you're sure?"
"Yes, quite."
"Good, then we shall see how this turns out, this time." this time? So he's done it before, why am I not surprised? I rock back on my feet and clasp my hands behind my back. I turn my head in circles changing directions from left to right every other time, trying to ignore the pain shooting but my neck. Suddenly two hands grab either side of my face forcing me to stop my head rotation. I find myself face to face with the man, staring at me as though I were crazy or something.
"Is she always like this?" he asks Sal, who is now glaring at me from behind the mans back.
"No, it's just how she deals with situations such as this."
"Ahh," we stand there for a minute and stare into each others eyes not saying anything.
