Hearing the monitor
Beeping,
And the uneven breathing
Coming from my mouth
As I lay on the hospital bed.
You holding my hand
As you lay beside me
Securingly
As if I was the most
Precious thing in the world.
I stare at your features
As I caress your cheek,
Knowing that I
Have limited time left.
Memorizing everything
About you.
"It'll be alright,
I won't leave you."
Is what you always say,
But the truth is...
"I'll be the one
Leaving you."
You were always
There for me.
Even if you
Were struggling as well.
You always told me
That I was your home,
But that home
Will shatter and fall soon.
That day,
You told me
You were gonna be late
Was the last moment
For me.
Tears running down
My face
As the pain
Became unbearable.
All I thought about at the time
Was you.
Wanting to see you
One last time,
But time is so cruel.
"Please be happy
And move on.
Just know
That I'll always
Be with you.
I love you"
Darkness
Covered my world.
