~i'm in love with my best friend~🌻
Monday- 12:34pm- New York City
"Miss Jauregui? Miss Jauregui? LAUREN!!"
Lucy shouted finally."Shit!" I jumped, almost dropping my camera because of being startled by Lucy. "Lucy, seriously you almost gave me a heart attack." I said putting my hand over my chest.
"Well I've been calling you for the past five minutes ma'am, but you were so busy that you didn't hear me." She said. "You got a phone call and he said he wanted to speak with you."
"Ugh. Lucy well I take my job seriously." I said irritatingly, with an eye roll.
Why do people always have to disturb me when I'm doing my job? I waved off the model that I was photographing and followed Lucy to the back room where I grabbed the phone and put it to my ear. Lucy left short after, letting me speak to the person on the phone alone.
"Hello?" I asked.
"Lauren?" I immediately recognized that voice.
"Shawn!?" I said with surprise.
"Yup for sure Lauren." He said laughing lightly.
"Hey doofus, how you been?" I said trying to start a conversation without being awkward. It had been a while since I've talked to any of my family members.
"Good, good." He said, "How has New York been treating you?"
"Good, Good." I replied. "So whats the unexpected call for?"
"Oh, umm about that......." Shawn took a long pause. He cleared his throat as if what he was about to say was going to be very difficult to say. "Lauren, I'm sorry to tell you this but.........your parents have passed away." He said slowly.
"Oh." Was all I could say. Nothing. I felt nothing. Those people despised the fact that I liked girls. Banishing their little girl because of their religious beliefs. How could I feel sorrow for the people that couldn't love their daughter because of her sexual orientation?
"Lauren?" Shawn said softly. "I'm sorry."
"It's not your fault Shawn." I said slowly, although I felt nothing of mourn for the news, I still felt a little guilty, being the only child meant my parents expected the most from me, but I was not the little girl that they expected.
"Lauren, You should come to the funeral." He said. "It's on Saturday but try to be here by Friday because we're going to have a family dinner."
"I'll be there Shawn." I said, pausing for a second to regain my composure and then continuing. "I gotta get back to work, see you on Friday, goodbye."
"Bye." He said lastly as the line went dead.
