Protecting An Innocent

***CARVER'S POV***

We stood outside the council for a few minutes before Markius arrived with only a couple of guards, his best by the looks of things. The guard who had helped me last night was within the few.

"Shall we?" Markius said as he gestured too enter. As we went too the main hall, Quentin, Nikolai and Elliott were all sat waiting for us, there was quite alot more guards than usual.

"Carver, it's good too see you again, but we know you don't have much time for meet and greet's, although I am happy to meet Nick properly, I hope this is enough guards to take Lucious down." Elliott spoke quickly but calmly. Nickolai chuckled softly,

"Elliott we shall have time for a proper meet and greet once the problem at hand has been sorted, Nick you shall be staying with us, I know you will object but i'm sorry we must insist, it could be a rouse too trap you." Nickolai gestured too a seat next too them.

"Thank you gentlemen, Nick I agree, you have too stay here, don't worry i'll make sure your mum is returned safe." I turn too leave when I notice Nick is still following close behind me.

"I'm sorry but I can't stay, this is my mum, I have to go, you don't understand."

"Nick you can trust me, please don't make me do something you'll regret, we don't want to make the problem worse, if you come he will use her against you, please just stay." Nick tried too walk past me, "I'm sorry too do this Nick, I really am." I quickly lift my fist and hit him as hard as I can in his nose. He stays down, Elliott looks at me shocked, as do most of the guards. "Could you make him feel comfortable, please, tell him how sorry I am when he awakens." Quentin and Nickolai nod, Elliott's face was still filled with shock.

"Guards please could you bring our guest up and see if you can wake him." Two guards did as they were told, I turned too follow the rest.

As I got outside I noticed more guards have turned up with afew armored cars. Markius went over were we should look too find Luscious. Shapeshifter's were hard to find, theirr scent isn't very strong (even with my enhanced sense of smell). Unless they are not out too feed, they stay in their human form. They don't usually feed on humans, but some do. They take any form they need too, it makes finding them quite hard. Luckily Markius had once known this shapeshifter, so he knew what he liked, what he didn't. It made the search easier, but the search went for days.

I had kept in contact with Nick, he had tried too leave again, but Nickolai and Elliott had persuaded him too stay. I can almost feel his pain. It's strange, my life was easier without Nick, but somehow I also felt like meeting him had somehow filled a hole inside me. I hate the fact he's a lycan, my life had felt like it had no meaning before, and now it's like I should feel guilty for enjoying spending time with him. Life's is just too complicated, immortality makes it worse.
