***NICK'S POV***

When I opened my eyes I see four guards standing around me muttering to theirselves. As I stand they back of slightly.
"Nick? Are you okay?" Nickolai's voice came from the corner of the room, I didn't want to turn and face him, my wolf was very uncomfortable in this confined space with so many vamps. I nodded softly and walked out the garage. I breathed a long slow breath through my nose then opened my mouth. As I started to run my muscles begin to feel less tense, my wolf begins to calm a little, and so did I. The wind ruffled my fur as I ran to the boundary, then running as fast as I can, I follow the fences the whole way round.
The gates came and went a good few times, before I stopped. I could smell something in the air, something wasn't right, the air felt thick, my wolf could sense something. He urged me to go to the front gate, but I couldn't move.
What if Luscious was there, working his way through the guards. Slaughtering more and more, just to get to me. I decide to stand and listen, a few moments go by when I hear the front gates open. Car tires driving up to the building. Doors opening, people getting out. Relief spreads through me quickly as I hear my mum's voice. It doesn't take long after the next words are uttered before me and my wolf begin to panic.
"QUICKLY! TAKE CARVER TO THE HOSPITAL WING, there must be something doc can do for her!" Markius' voice cut through me like a knife, although it sounded like a whisper. What's happened to Carver? It's all my fault!
I run quickly past them and into the garage, as I begin to force the change I hear Carver screaming, before I know it I'm lay on the floor in my human form, completely naked. I quickly grab my pants and pull them on before running bare foot towards the sounds of Carver's agonising screams.
When I arrive at the hospital wing, I see my mum in Markius' arms, Damien stood closest to the door and Nickolai walking slowly towards me.
"You can't go in right now, she's in alot of pain, we don't know how long she's got, Elliott's in there with her." I quickly move around him and walk towards my mum.
"Are you okay?" I tried to stay calm but Carver's screams chilled me to the bone.
"I'm fine, a little shook up but other than that I'm fine, thanks to Markius here but main thanks to your little girlfriend in there, she's the one that found me and got me out, but I feel it's my fault she's in this predicament right now." Markius shook his head and planted a small but firm kiss on her head.
"No mum, it's my fault, I shouldn't have let her go, I should've gone myself, if I had, Carver would be okay." Even though they disagreed with me, I couldn't help but feel the same way. My blood chilled at Carver's screamed, I can't stand out here and wait for her to die, I need to be in there with her.
I reach for the handle of the door but I'm cut off by Damien,
"Back off mutt, if it wasn't for you Carver wouldn't be in this mess, your mother wouldn't have been kidnapped by shapeshifter, and everything would be fine now. I told Carver that your kind was poison, but she wouldn't listen, always trying to see the best in all creatures. If it was up to me all your kind along with shapeshifters, would be compost by now." His voice was filled with hate as he spoke to me. I didn't have chance too respond before my mum cut in.
"Don't you dare blame Nick for any of this, I don't care what he is, he's still my son and I know he would never do anything to harm a woman, human or not. He is no more to blame than any of us!" She sounded very annoyed and had even pryed herself away from Markius' arms. Damien just grunted and turned back to the door.
"Actually he has less blame on his shoulders than we do. He was not there with us, he didn't know where we had gone, Carver had knocked him out before we left, if he was there I am quite confident in saying, Carver would not have been bitten at all. So if you want to blame anybody, look in this direction, or you're own." Markius' voice was deep and not too be argued with, but Damien still tried.
"You can't be serious!? It's because of his mutt lifestyle that his mother was kidnapped, that we had to rescue her and the reason Carver's in there in searing pain!" Markius paced towards him, but didn't have the chance to say anything.
"Damien, stop, you know as well as I do, of his feelings for Carver and vice versa, you may not like it, to be very honest I'm not very fond of the idea myself, but there isn't much we can do about it, Carver is the dictator of her own life, she will not be told what to do, who to speak too and she definately won't be told who she can or can't love..." Markius' voice was cut off by the slight click of the door behind Damien. Elliott stood with slight relief on his grief stricken face.
"She's heavily sedated, she won't be awake for long, she wants to see you." Damien's face turned to thunder as he realised that Elliott was talking too me.
I quickly shot around Damien before he stop me and gave a small smile to Markius, my mum and Elliott before I softly shut the door behind me.
Every bed was empty, all but one. It was in the far end of the white room, cut off from the others by a single white curtain. As I slowly walk towards it, i see a very tall vamp walk out from the side of the curtain.
"Make it short, she won't be awake for long, I've done all I can, she will live, but I don't know if the shapeshifters venom will take effect of not." I nod and give a small smile, he places a hand on my shoulder as he passes me and walks towards the door.
I wait on the outside of the curtain until I hear the door click shut. As I push the curtain aside slightly I see Carver lay on the small bed, eyes half closed, probably because of the sedatives she has been given. She sniffs the air slightly and her head turns towards me.
"Hey, don't be, angry with me. I didn't want to hit you, but you, weren't listening." Her voice was so quiet, almost a whisper.
"Don't be silly, i'm not angry with you, I'm angry with myself, if I was there, I could've helped, I could've stopped this from happening. It kills me too know that you could've died because of me. I wouldn't be able too live with myself if you had, it doesn't bare thinking about." She tries to lift her hand but it falls to the bed. I quickly kneel beside the bed, and lifted hand before planting a small kiss on her knuckles. She smiles at me and shakes her head as her eyes slowly close. I kiss her forehead before taking the seat next too her bed. My hand never leaving hers.
