10 - Puzzled

"Are we okay?"

Startled, I look up to the girl who stood in front of me in the library with her gaze lock on me.

Slowly, I close the book that I read before raise an eyebrow "I don't know if I followed you" I replied and make her scoffs before pulled the nearest chair and sat on it.

"Puh-lease, Elle, you're avoiding me, reject my invitation to hangout after school and never answer your phone" She states in annoyance which make me chuckle for thinking how absurdly strange her words, people will thought that we're a couple or something "What's funny?" She throw the question peevishly when see me smiles.

Can't hold myself anymore, I burst out laughing which make her crossed her arms in anger "Sorry.. Sorry" I quickly speak before she's going to yelled and I can't use the library anymore because of it "You do realize you're sound like my 'girlfriend'?" I watch in amusement how her face turn from anger into confusion before she join me and we both laugh at it "Seriously? 'You're avoiding me, reject my invitation to hangout after school and never answer your phone'   God, it's so weird hearing those from you" I shook my head and she shoved my shoulder playfully with a rolled eyes.

"Idiot, you know what I mean, Elle, where are you these past two weeks?" She said with a pout "I feel like you're abandoned me" She added and I try to not rolled my eyes for hear her exaggeration words.

"You do know I'm working now" I tell her again which I know is a good reason because the truth is I'm afraid to be seen with her, afraid if father saw me with her.

On weekend I decide to do something to make myself busy, so I try to find a job since I also need it to buy a car for me. At first aunt Rebecca disagree but with my persuade skill with the loneliness card I told her, she finally give me her permission.

So, after that I take a walk around to see if there's an open opportunity as a waitress or something and got lucky to see one Pizza cafe needed helper and since then after school I start working as a waitress in the Pizza cafe called 'Peperoni' which is lucky it placed near my school and apartment.

Sara staring at me skeptically like she know it just an excuse before shook her head in disappoint "You tell yourself that" She said and I stare at her open-mouthed in shock for her cold respond before watch her slide out from her seat "When you're ready to tell me the truth, you know my phone number and my house" She added before give me a small nod and leaving.

Stroke my head before put my head down on the table, I don't know what I felt right now. My heart clench in hurting for seeing the first friend that I ever made was leaving, but I know this suppose to be done or I'm going to hurting her more.

'Your fear is excessive, your father isn't here and you're just make an excuse to shove everyone away'

 But.. But...

'You'll die alone with a hundred cats then'
