It had been a good day, mid-term finals had just ended so my best friends and I, Lisa and Kathy, thought they did really well. So they decided to go and celebrate at the local Karaoke Bar the Secret Striking Singer since it was open mic night.

"Meloetta! Hurry up! You're always so slow!" Lisa giggled her deep red, long hair swishing as she grabbed my wrist and pulled me along behind her. Lisa was the youngest in our little group, was a freshman in high school, and had more energy the Energizer Bunny on energy drinks and steroids.

"I can't help it" I protested. Kathy sighed giving Lisa a burning look with her amber colored eyes.

" You need to calm down Lisa did you take your medicine today?" she asked with an exasperated tone running a hand through her dark brown hair. Kathy acted the most mature out all of us, she is after all a Senior in high school. Her maturity also was a result of having 4 younger siblings that looked to her as a role model.

Though sometimes Kathy would sometimes treat Lisa as she would treat her siblings. Lisa's slightly upturned nose wrinkled up in disdain.

"Yes, I took it!" She groaned glaring at Kathy her green eyes venomous as Kathy raised a speculative eyebrow. Lisa frowned and punched Kathy in the arm.

"you're a jerk.". I realized that that was a sign for me to step in

"come on guys let's get going or all of the good seats will be taken," I said smiling and began walking down the street towards the promise of Karaoke. I am 16 and a junior, I am more mature for my age mainly because I am an emancipation teenager. Which means I don't have any guardian to take care of me so I legally am permitted by the state to live alone as long as I can prove I can take care of myself. (Place to live, medical insurance, food, and a steady job to support my job. The reason why I am like this is that I don't have any known relatives because I was adopted by My guardian And. We loved each other a lot it's just she didn't come back one day after going off to her college classes.

" Violet Eyes is right, it's getting late and that means more people will be arriving." Kathy jogged to catch up to me and Lisa followed suit.

"Well come on! Let's hurry then!!!" Lisa said running ahead. Kathy and I rolled our eyes and tried to keep up.

We soon were standing outside of the Secret Striking Singer. It had a cool blue, neon sign outside displaying its name written in elegant cursive though the word Striking was in a flamingo pink and was flickering. It was as classy as an establishment could be sharing with sharing space with a bowling alley, but it was extremely clean and had almost a futuristic theme.

The lights inside were a combination of black lights and neon blue light that was dimmed and cast an otherworldly blue glow that filled the space as well as its occupants and brightened white and certain shades of orange, pink, red, green, and yellow. There was good food that high school and college students would enjoy and the prices were very affordable. There was also plenty of drinks both alcoholic and not. There were small tables placed all around the karaoke side of the establishment and there was a bar counter with twisty bar stools placed all around it. The whole place had a happy-go-lucky and welcoming atmosphere where you couldn't tell the regulars from the first timers because everyone became friends so quickly and everyone was so friendly, not to say there weren't any clicks that stuck to themselves but no one paid them any mind unless they tried to cause any trouble for anyone.

Lisa bounced in waving wildly hello at some of the other regulars, Louis the bartender, and her boyfriend John. Kathy smirked crossing her arms across her chest surveying the room and saying hello in her own cool way by nodding. I followed the pair to the bar table shyly smiling and politely nodding or giving a small wave hello. We found an empty table close to some empty bar stools at the bar counter Lisa and her boyfriend sat at the table and Kathy and I took the bar stools.
