the next time i walked into the diner, it was crowded. families, couples, friends; the whole thing. i took a seat in my usual place at the bar, my eyes scanning for you.
i spotted you taking the order of my neighbors, kim seokjin & kim namjoon. they were a married couple with their son, taehyung.
when you turned around, our eyes met. your once tired look was replaced with a bright smile. i never knew that'd be my favorite thing to see.
you made your way towards me as i gave you a small smile. again, i ordered another green tea. i could tell you were suppressing something.
even if you were going to comment on my choice of drink, or say something else entirely, you stayed quiet and nodded.
watching you work and still keeping a smile while dealing with bratty kids made me want to praise you. i didn't know i needed to yell at you instead.
you came back with my green tea with a nervous expression. i thanked you after you set my cup down, but you didn't leave.
you asked if i had read the receipt from my last visit as you fidgeted in your spot. i had responded truthfully and immediately took it out to read it.
your eyes had widened and moved it to make sure i didn't see what was written on there. i was told to wait until i got home. and so i did.
who knew that ten digits could ruin your life?
