There was a knock on my door around mid-afternoon. I was literally dawdling on my bed thinking about what the Holies told us this morning at the cafeteria. I got up and opened the door thinking it was probably Safa. But I was greeted with a sight of Keenan standing in front of me.

"Hey." He said.

"Hey." My heart was up my throat. Keenan must be so stressed out with what was happening inside the Iduri walls. I could almost feel the pressure that the situation brought to everyone, especially to the Guardians and Keenan wasn't an exception to it. But as he stood in front of my door waiting for me to invite him in, all I saw was the dark haired boy, weary with black eyes peering on me. His lips parted, wet and delicious. What a mess, what a beautiful mess he was.

"Lola, are you okay?" He asked and my face burned with embarrassment knowing that he caught me subdued by his presence. I turned around immediately as I invited him in. I heard the door closed but I didn't turn to face him right away. Instead, I crossed the room and stood in front of the window looking at the walls outside. Dark and malevolent billow clustered on the horizon – a storm was coming.

"Lola?" He asked for the second time.

I sucked in air and finally faced Keenan. I saw the concern written all over his face as I looked at him trying to hide the blushing. "Sorry, I'm just thinking about what the Holies said..." I lied.

He nodded and walked slowly toward me. I suddenly had the urged to fidget but I stopped myself. I know, hard habit was hard to break but I bit the inside of my lips to stop myself from looking like a stupid girl in front of Keenan.

"I know what you mean. I was thinking about it too, in fact everyone was thinking about it." He said.

He was now standing in front of me, his broad shoulders blocking the door. With his tall figure, my gaze leveled to his chest and so I tilted my head to distract myself, uncomfortably looking at a space on the side. He was peering down at me, I could feel his watchful eyes warmed my skin. I looked up to see his face. Our eyes met and for the first time I saw Keenan through the mirror in his eyes. There was a cliché that the eyes were the windows to the soul – now I could attest that there was truth in those words. Keenan was beyond exhaustion and I could see a tiny flickered in his soul, the only thing that kept him from fainting.

"When was the last time you sleep?" I asked.

"It doesn't matter." He said breaking the contact.

"You're exhausted Keenan. You need to rest." I retorted following his gaze. I would never back down on this. Keenan needed to regain his strength.

"Nonsense! We need to..." I didn't allow him to finish his rebuttal and immediately I reached out for his face and guided it to face me.

"I'm fine Lola." He was still trying to play hard but I wasn't having it. I knew what I saw and I knew that he was already at the edge.

"You can't save the city if you yourself needed saving. Come..." I held his hand and pulled him towards the bed.

"I need to go back to the base..." He was so stubborn.

"Lie down with me..." I asked him. I couldn't imagine myself to be this daring. I've never done this before, lying in bed with a man at my side but if it was the only way for Keenan to listen then be it. Keenan stopped talking and all he did was stare at me and I held his gaze. I could feel my heart fluttered like wings and a burning sensation surged inside my body as Keenan leaned forward to share my bed. I lied down next to the wall as he rolled in his side facing me.

"What are you doing to me?" He asked. "I wanted to say no but I couldn't."

"I just wanted you to rest for a while Keenan, if you're going to save the city – you'll be needing your strength." I reached out for his face and placed a hand to caress him. My body was trembling with this boldness. Our faces were inch from each other that I could even feel the warmth of his breathe. I've never been close like this with Keenan, not this close.

"Sleep now." I whispered.

He was fighting the fatigue but tiredness ruled over him and finally he surrendered, his eyes closed yielding to the dream. But before the strong of his will gave up he spoke.

"I like you Lola."
