this is a short story written by me about a dinosaur who is lonely but finds a friend on his adventures through the village - who could it be?
Once upon a time there was a dinosaur called Happy. Happy was a big purple dinosaur with green spikes on his back. Although his name was happy he was the quite the opposite.
He lived in the jungle all alone with only monkeys to talk to. The monkeys swung through the jungle every so often but would laugh and play tricks on Happy the Dinosaur. They would hide behind trees and jump out and scare him, then they would swing up high in the trees to hide and Happy could never see them because he was only a little dinosaur, he was frightened. One day Happy was taking a walk through the village, whenever he did this all of the little boys and girls would run away from Happy since he was a dinosaur and most of the dinosaurs in books are scary and mean. Happy wasn't like the other dinosaurs - he was strong willed and had an amazing imagination but the children didn't know that because nobody ever tried to speak to him or even make friends, Happy was lonely.
Happy went and found a swing to sit on at the local park, it was red and blue and squeaked as he swung backwards and forwards. He sat back, closing his eyes, imagining what it would be like to be friends with the monkeys who swung high above the trees.
"Hello?" spoke an unfamiliar voice. Happy looked up and was greeted by a little girl, she was only five years old and looked quite concerned.
"My name is Eliza, I saw you all alone and my mummy said that if I see someone on their own that I should be nice and make friends, nobody likes being alone. What's your name?"
"My names Happy and I am a dinosaur."
"Wow, hello Happy, it's lovely to meet you. I have never met a dinosaur before, I have read books about them but I didn't know they were real too! Do you think I could meet your friends?"
"Lovely to meet you too Eliza, I wish I could bring you to meet my friends but I don't have any. I am very lonely in the jungle."
"Oh that's no fun!" cried Eliza. "You have to have friends! Do you want to be my friend Happy? I can take you to my house and get mummy to cook us dinner and we can have a tea party with all of my teddies!"
"Yes please, Eliza. I would very much enjoy that. Can we play with bubbles too? I've always wanted to play with bubbles."
"Of course we can!"
Eliza grabbed Happy by the hand and led him to her house where they played for hours with her teddies and Eliza taught Happy what true happiness really felt like. She taught him what it was like to have a best friend. Happy ended up having a sleepover at Eliza's house that night and he still visits her often. I wonder if they're together having a picnic right now?
