Naomi's POV
*honk* *honk*
"Okay Emma," I say under my breath. She's so impatient sometimes but I love her. I run by the mirror for one last glance at myself, grab my bag, and run out of the house.
As I get into the car she glares at me, "What?"
"You took too long, we're going to be late." She's so adorable when she's mad.
"We will be if you don't start driving."
She takes the car out of park and starts driving our normal route to school. The whole drive is silent but it's a good silence, a comfortable silence. Emma starts a conversation, "So how long have your parents been gone this time?"
"About 2 months now."
She gasps, "That's surprising, how have they survived that long without any money?"
"They probably gamble or borrow some, I don't know, why would I care?" I never really liked talking about my parents with her, I didn't want her to pity me. I'm supposed to be the one taking care of her not the other way around.
"Are they in Chicago again?"
I got a little frustrated, "I don't know Emma now will you drop it please?"
She got silent, her eyes turned a dark sapphire blue the color they turn when she's sad. She stayed silent for the rest of the ride. When we got to the school she jumped out of the car practically running towards the school barely giving me enough time to catch up to her. "Emma! Emma, I'm sorry!" I shout and she finally stops.
I run to catch up with her and she looks at me with those beautiful blue eyes that I can never get enough of. "What Naomi? You know I hate it when you get upset?"
"I know and I'm sorry. Let me make it up to you tonight mi amour." I say with puppy eyes that she can never resist.
"Fine. But only because you did the puppy eyes." I get so happy that I almost jump for joy. Today is Friday so she can stay over and I can cook her dinner after my shift at the store.
Emma's POV
"Fine. But only because you did the puppy eyes." Seeing her make that face always made me feel better for some reason. She'll probably cook dinner and we'll watch a movie and I'll probably stay the night.
"I'll see you in second period love, muah." She blew me a kiss, that's how we say goodbye to each other, it's been like that since we were six. I would love it more if those were real kisses. Emma you can't think like that, you shouldn't be thinking like that. It's wrong and she's your best friend.
I'm off to first period and this is the one class that I don't have with Naomi, history, it sucks. Classes are always easier with Naomi around I don't know why.
Today in history all we did was lecture, the worst. I stare at the clock for the last ten minutes praying for it to go faster and finally the bell rings. I practically run down the hallway to go find Naomi.
There she is standing by our lockers looking hotter than ever. She is wearing her high waisted short shorts with fishnet stockings and her Doc Martins, she topped it all off with a graphic tee and her leather jacket. She always looks so hot wearing that jacket. Emma you need to stop thinking about that seriously you have a boyfriend. Speak of the devil.
"Hey baby, how's it goin'?" Jack said.
He's looking pretty hot in his leather jacket too but never as hot as Naomi.
"What are you up to after school today, I was thinking that we could go out and do something."
That is what he says when he wants something.
"What's going on this time?" He stares at me confused.
"Nothing happened I just want to spend time with you, you don't really seem interested anymore and it's a little scary."
He looks so upset. "I'm going to Naomi's tonight and she's making me dinner, I'm going to stay the night with her."
"Just like every Friday." He says with a look of disappointment and then he walks away.
Naomi walks up to me, "Ouch, that one hurt."
She gives me a soft smile, "Are you okay love?"
"Yes I am okay, Jack and I have just been going through a rough patch. We have been arguing a lot."
"About what?" Naomi asks.
"You mostly." Shit, I didn't mean to tell her that.
"So what does he have a crush on me now or something?" She starts to laugh uncontrollably.
"Yeah, something like that I guess," I give a fake smile.
"This seems to really be bothering you," she says.
Naomi's POV
"This seems to really be bothering you," I say. I can tell that she isn't okay.
Emma says nothing and the silence is deafening.
"Well, we can talk about it at my place later over tubs of ice cream with a butt load of sprinkles."
She smiles, "I would love that."
