Lavender looked down at the gold wedding ring around her finger.

It was pointless. It was all pointless. It meant nothing to her.

She didn't love her husband, and it killed her inside. She felt horrible. She didn't even like men.

Lavender regretted rushing into marriage and life before she had even figured herself out.

The sad thing is, Jace wasn't a bad man. He wasn't at all. She just didn't love him.

Lavender looked up. Her and her husband were currently driving to a get together for his work. They planned on meeting up with one of his work friends, Louis. She let out a small sigh.

"What's wrong?" Jace asked Lavender as they pulled into a parking lot.

"Oh, nothing." Lavender responded, looking down. That was a lie. She fiddled with the ring on her finger.

"I'm not going to lie, Lavender, for the past year or so you've been acting strange. Are you sure everything is ok?" He pressed, a concerned look on his face.

She plastered a fake smile.

"I'm sure." Lavender nodded.

"Alright then, we're here." Jace announced as he parked the car.

They both climbed out of the car, shutting the doors behind them. You could hear Lavender's high heels hitting the hard pavement as they walked into an illuminated building. It was some fancy restaurant they had rented for the night.

As soon as they opened the doors, the smell of alcohol, food, wood, and perfume hit her all at once. It wasn't necessarily bad, just strange.

Lavender looked around. There were men and women in fancy clothing and glimmering jewelry surrounding her.

"Hey, let's go find Louis, he also brought his wife. Maybe you two can create a friendship." Jace suggested. Lavender nodded.

She had never met Louis's wife. She was kind of disassociated at the moment, so she didn't think much of it.

Both of them skimmed through the crowd. It wasn't long before Jace reached out to gently touch the back of a man in a black suit. The man turned around, confused, and his face immediately lit up when he saw Jace behind him.

"Jace!"

"Louis!"

The two men hugged and patted each others backs. They exchanged a few greetings before Louis noticed Lavender standing awkwardly behind his friend.

"And you, my dear, must be Lavender." Louis said in a warm, embracing voice.

"Correct." Lavender gave the man a smile. They shook hands.

"Lavender, I must introduce you to ky wife." Louis said before turning around, gently tugging someone by their wrist and murmuring a few words.

From behind Louis emerged a beautiful woman. Her light-dark skin looked beautiful in the lighting. Her green eyes glistened in the lighting. Her green eyes glistened. Her dark brown, tightly curled hair cascaded around her pink-tinted cheeks.

Lavender locked eyes with her. Her heart raced. They both stared for what seemed like an eternity.

It was almost like time stopped.

"Lavender, this is my wife, Marina."
