for the next few days akira had been hardcore swerving you. the both of you would walk to school (in uncomfortable silence), he wouldn't talk to you during class, he wouldn't walk home with you, and even at home he focused on mainly homework and working out, which you didn't mind because of his sweet abs.

but you felt played. you were with him so much at home and yet you felt so lonely. you had felt this same feeling when you had been living with s.e.e.s, but when you were with s.e.e.s it was easier to just go out to a friend's house. here, your only friend was your roommate.

you stopped sleeping with him and using him as a furnace, much to your dismay, and it was almost to the point where he even tried to ditch you on the way to school.

you knew something was up and now it was time to confront him. but what would you say? you didn't want to make things anymore awkward as they are. you wanted clarity, but didn't know how to ask for it.

so here you were, sitting on the couch with your oversized shirt (courtesy of minato) whilst doing homework, waiting for him to walk right up the stairs.

however, much to your surprise, he didn't come home until 3 in the morning. you had already passed out, frozen.

in the morning he had left early as well, with a note on a new and thicker blanket. the note had read 'you looked really cold so have this' and that was basically the only form of interaction the both of you had.

well, at least he still cared? you were still confused and conflicted.

friday night was the night you swore to yourself you would confront him. again, you were on the couch in your pajamas causally on your phone reading.

you heard the familiar footsteps come up the stairs and you instinctively looked up. the one and only akira kurusu was here, and so were your answers.

you sat upright and greeted him, he replied back in a tired hello and grabbed his clothes to shower.

maybe you shouldn't be doing this. he seemed oddly stressed out. however there weren't any type of tests this week, so why would he be stressed out. you decided that you ask him a simple question when he walked out of the bathroom.

when he walked out of the bathroom, hair wet, and in his usual pajamas, he plopped down onto the bed and pulled out his phone to play with.

that was when you found the courage to try and talk to him.

"akira, is there something wrong"

his head perked up, "no, why do you ask?"

"you seem really out of it and we haven't been talking for a while now"

"what makes you think that?"

"we are basically roommates and the only time we talk is when we say hello in the hallways"

"i'm sorry about that, i've just been think a lot about things?"

"you seem pretty stressed out about it" you sat up and pointed your direction more towards akira, "wanna talk about it?"

he sat upright in his bed and sighed, "its really complicated"

"so is that keyword for no?"

"its keyword for i wanna talk about it but i can't"

"understandable" you said, as you began to lay back down into the couch, "if you need me i'm always here"

you concentrated at your phone, careful not to let your smile show. this was the first time the both of you had talked in a while and it felt nice? you wanted to talk to him more, but he didn't seem all in the mood too.

you called it a night and fell asleep once more.

you awoke a few hours later in the same velvet room, in the same cell, with the same people.

"what do you all want with me?" you cried out, fed up with waking up in a cell.

"quiet inmate!" caroline hit the baton against the cell gate and stood beside the cell itself.

igor folded his hands and rested his head onto of them, he smiled, almost mockingly, at you. he let out a small laugh.

"whats so funny" you asked.

"that fool" he said simply.

"who?"

"that fool left you with his wild card" he began laughing uncontrollably.

you grew even more defensive and yelled out once more, "who is the fool!"

his laugher created tears that began streaming down his face, he looked like he was on the brink of insanity, laughing with no end. like a clown after they've  scared children away. he finally looked at you in the eyes once more.

"only fools believe they can be barriers between gods" he said before the room turned black and you awoke in reality.
