"Ashton?" Calum nudged me.

"Yeah" I looked over at him slowly breaking out of my thoughts.

"You're staring at her again" he chuckled nervously .

"Huh?" I looked over at her again as she doodled in her notebook, biting down on her lip in concentration. "oh sorry" I looked down at my lap.

"Why do you stare at her?" he whispered.

"I don't know honestly Cal" I laugh nervously and he smirks. "I can't stop"

I hadn't talked to Elizabeth since the day we walked to school together. I wanted to but I never got around to it. I felt like a stalker honestly, I wasn't right? She wasn't the kind of person that would just open up to you right away. She was the girl you had to work for. You had to earn her trust before you earned her acceptance. So I watched her and watched her and watched her, waiting for some sign to approach her. But it never seemed to come. I felt like I was losing my mind over this girl. She was too quiet. She was too secretive. She was too interesting. She was too pretty. She was-god dammit.

"Cal?"

"Yeah?"

"What can you tell me about her?" I ask quietly

"What?" he blurted

"I mean what do you know about her. You said you guys were friends, do you have any idea why she is like that?"

He shivered as he stared off at her.

"Well" he sighed "Elizabeth was going through something. I didn't know what but I knew something was wrong. I went over to her house and I was about to knock on the door but I heard screaming from inside. I froze and just stood there and then I heard crying. I got scared and started to walk back down the sidewalk when she came running outside. She was crying and kind of freaking out"

Calums point of view flashback

"Elizabeth?" I called to her.

She stopped and stared at me. Her eyes were swollen and red as tears flowed down her cheeks.

"Cal?" she whispered as she ran into me and wrapped her arms around me.

"What happened? What's wrong?" I asked and her breathing suddenly got really heavy again.

"Nothing I just need a friend right now" she sobbed

"Of course" I whispered.

Ashton's POV

"That's when she broke down. She got worse everyday and I tried to help her I did but I didn't know how to handle it and then one day she just shut me out and we never talked again. I feel like it's my fault Ash what if is?" he whispered

"Calum it's not your fault" I said as I put my hand on his shoulder. He hung his head "I promise you it's not Cal"

He smiled at me weakly before we both looked over at her one last time before the bell rang.

When I walked into my last class of the day the first thing I noticed was Elizabeth sitting in the back of the class like always. I took a deep breath before I walked to the back and sat down in the seat next to her. Her head shot up and she have me a questioning look.

"Hey" I giggled as I pulled out my notebook and a pencil.

She smiled at me before turning her head to look out the window. I smirked at her as the classroom began to fill.

When the class started she turned her attention to her desk, tracing swirls on the desk with her finger.

She suddenly smiled "You're staring at me" she whispered, her eyes still on the desk.
