Light from the girl's phone illuminated her face; a single beacon of light in her pitch black room. The walls and basic layout of the room and its furniture were dark and dreary in the darkness and the phone's light, turned down to the lowest setting, didn't help much. Rain poured and wind whipped against her window, startling her every few minutes.
She glanced at the time on her phone and sighed. Her phone was about to die when it was just ten o'clock. The night had just come and she wouldn't be able to charge her phone since she left her charger downstairs. What made it worse is that her mom always stayed up late and got mad at her when she was up past nine thirty. And her alarm was on her phone...
The girl, known as Delilah, turned off her phone and threw it onto the side table. She stood up from her bed and hurried over to her dresser. She then pulled on a sweater and some gloves before shuffling over to her desk where she sat down.
Her eyes burned as she flipped up the top of her laptop to have bright light shine straight into her face. Plugging in her headphones she searched for something to watch, knowing fully well she wasn't going to be able to sleep tonight.
With all the strange kidnappings going on around the country, and the government refusing to see it as anything other than the usual, Delilah was on edge. She kept a pocket knife under her pillow and a flashlight on her side table just in case someone decided to come for her as well.
For the past two weeks her phone would constantly notify her with AMBER alerts and news casts saying how this child went missing walking home or how this child disappeared suddenly. It was really starting to bug her and she couldn't shake the feeling that, when she turned her back, something was watching her, just waiting for the perfect moment.
Delilah didn't hear her phone as it started to vibrate. The AMBER alert had just tried to notify her of a child disappearance not that far away.
The fourteen year old, after about thirty minutes of watching random videos, got up and walked over to her bed. She scooped up her phone from the nightstand and read the message.

Delilah felt a shiver crawl up her spine as she looked out her window. The city of Gary wasn't too far away from where she lived and that made her slightly paranoid. The wind that whipped the windows seemed to be a creature trying to get inside. The rain pounding against the side of the house seemed to be animals begging to be let in and away from the nightmare. The branches of the trees rustling against the roof seemed to be the claws of monsters as they tore their way inside.
The teenager reached for the pocket knife under pillow and grasped for the flashlight next to her bed. Her hand grabbed something different however. She felt something very coarse and slightly wet, warm and solid.
Her head looked to her side and her eyes widened at the sheer size of the creature. Her eyes could only see its silhouette though, due to the darkness, but she could see its two bright yellow eyes.
