Emma
I'm just piling up the boxes the trunk of my car as Brad parks up in front of our house. I put in the last suitcase when he walks up to me.
"Are you ready?" A smile quickly spreads across my face as I know that we are actually doing this. He is driving in his car and I'm taking mine because the flat I'm in is a twenty minutes drive to the campus as I refused to get a flat on campus. Brad is going to live in his uncle's house. He travels a lot so he is mainly going to be alone in the house. He offered me to live with him but I thought it was way too soon to be leaving under the same roof. I preferred to hire a room at this flat.
"I have never been this ready to say bye to this city." He laughs and turns me to kiss him. My mum comes out as we separate. She opens her arms for the hundred times this morning to give me a hug.
"Now my second baby is leaving me too." I hate when she does this. We spoke about this and she said she would be fine because Craig will move into the house with them.
"Take good care of my little baby Bradley," She says not letting go of me. I sigh and lightly push her away. I kiss her cheek as I hear Brad add,
"I always will Cecelia." My mum hates being called by her surnames and she has forbidden him to call her Miss so he calls her by her name. She really likes Brad for me, on the other hand, she hates Hunter for what happened. She says he's an immature coward prick that didn't own up for his mistakes.
"Bye mum, see you soon! I'll follow you, babe," I say getting in my car. Brad gives my mum a hug and walks off to his car. I look back and see my mum waving from the doorstep with a smile on her. I am so happy to be leaving home and starting my life at university in San Francisco. I look at the rearview mirror as we get on the highway seeing how we leave our home behind.
After a six-hour drive stopping half way to grab something to eat we finally arrive at San Francisco. The first stop is my new flat. I spoke to my roommate and she seemed really sweet on the phone. She said she would wait for me to get here to open the door and greet me. I'm a bit nervous about moving in with a total stranger in a different state. I am hoping we become friends and that she shows me around the city. We enter the 'Potrero Hill' neighborhood finding big expensive houses and tall buildings. Looking out of the window the find E171 building isn't easy as the numbers are pretty small. A few blocks down I find the tall building. We manage to park in the corner of the street. Brad helps me get the boxes as I grab my two suitcases. I lock the car door as I follow Brad to my new home. I look up to the glass tall building. It's beautiful. A doorman opens the doors for us.
"Good evening Miss Skys. Miss Bailey is waiting upstairs. Welcome to your new home, I'm Peter and I'm here for whatever you need. Your floor is the eighth." An elderly sweet man says. I smile and add,
"Thank you, you can call me Emma," I say entering the biggest lobby I've ever seen. This lobby is bigger than my living room back home. We begin to walk down the white shiny floors. Peter walks behind us as we reach the lift. He puts his key to call the lift down.
"Miss Bailey will give you a set of keys. You need your key to be able to use the lift. This is the main key but every floor has a key to be able to get to your home." I'm shocked. It's not like any ordinary lift that you click the button if not you have a key to reach your floor. I saw photos online but I didn't picture it as good as this. The lift doors close as we reach the eighth floor. There is nine floors so I bet we will have a pretty spectacular view. As the lift goes up I feel the butterflies grow in my stomach. The doors slowly open revealing the huge apartment.
"Fuck!" Brad says in excitement as he steps out of the lift. My mouth hits the floor as my eyes scan the whole room. The living room is as big as the lobby. The tall big windows allow you to see the skyscrapers. The cream sofas match with the expensive creamy carpets.
