The feast was wonderful as always. When Professor Dumbledore dismissed us, we all headed for our respective common rooms. I had barely made it up the first flight of stairs when Lily caught up with me. She seemed out of sorts so I took her hand and led her to an empty classroom.

"What's wrong Lily?"

"Everything, that's what's wrong." Right then James and Sirius came through the door looking for me.

"Remus, are you okay," James asked.

"Oh, sorry. We didn't see you come in Lily. We were just checking of Remus," Sirius offered.

"What's wrong Evans? Are you crying?"

"Come on Lily, tell me what's wrong," I urged.

"That jerk McLaggen. He pulled me behind this tapestry and kissed me. I slapped him and he pushed me against the wall and..."

I was LIVID! McLaggen is a sixth year that thinks he can have any girl he wants. I was trying to stay calm. The look on Sirius and James' faces were murderous.

"What did he do Lils?"

"He was touching me. I managed to knee him and I ran to find you. I had already told him you were my boyfriend when he went to kiss me. I thought that might stop him but it didn't." I pulled her to me and wrapped my arms around her.

"We will take care of McLaggen for you," James replied.

"He is going to pay for this, I promise you that Lily," Sirius added.

"I've got an idea. Do you mind if I say I am your boyfriend, Lily?"

"You might as well. Half the school thinks you guys are a couple already," Sirius said.

"I don't mind. What are you going to do?"

"Two part plan. The first part is straight forward. The second part The Maruaders will handle." James and Sirius were both wearing evil grins. I gave them both a smirk and then took Lily by the hand and headed for our common room.

I saw McLaggen as soon as the Fat Lady opened the door for us. He was sitting in an armchair by the fire with a fifth year girl who's name I don't know in his lap. Lily saw him and stepped up beside me. James and Sirius saw her reaction and turned to find him. I walked over to him and stared at him.

"You got a problem, Lupin?" I had been hoping he would do that. Now the entire common room was silent and every eye was on me.

"You're an ass you know that. Do you always go around grabbing other guy's girlfriends and force yourself on them or was this because she's my girlfriend?" He was embarrassed. The girl in his lap moved away from him as fast as she could.

"I didn't know she was your girlfriend, Lupin."

"That's bullshit and you know it," Sirius responded. Several other guys had wandered over to us by that point. All of the girls, other than Lily, moved to the closest wall. Everybody was poised for trouble.

"I'm telling you now McLaggen, if you ever touch her again I will make you wish you'd never been born. If you even look at Lily Evans in a way I don't like yo will answer to me." He went to pull his wand on me. My werewolf sight and reflexes allowed me to punch him in the face before he could use it. "I'm not a violent person normally but you really do not want to try that again," I told him.

"If we hear of you treating anyone else like you did Evans tonight you'll answer to all of us," James promised.

I walked away and climbed the stairs to our dorm still holding Lily's hand. James and Sirius were right behind us. we walked in, sat down on our respective beds. I leaned against the headboard and Lily rested her head on my shoulder. A couple of minutes later someone knocked on our door. Sirius went and answered it. Several older students walked in. Included in the group were our house prefects. I was expecting this visit. They walked over to Lily and I.
