"study time"

As it was now the middle of January, the snow got heavier and the air got colder.

After new years, neither Amelia or Paul had said anything about the kiss, even though deep down it truly did mean something to them. There seemed to definitely be a fear of losing one another from that past act.

"James!" Amelia groaned in frustration, "I already told you this five times! Subtract the x and divide." the blonde dropped her head onto the coffee table officially giving up on tutoring the boy sitting next to her.

Paul just stared down at his paper, "Okay so I get x minus negative twelve equals three point nine right?!" he asked excitedly thinking that he had finally got it right.

The young girl just stared at him before getting up and going into her kitchen. "I got that right didn't I?!" Paul continued on from the other room.

Approaching the small table she sat down next to her little brother, "Please be smarter than paul is when you're older Scott." her small hand patted Scott's soft dirty blonde strands.

"Mummy says I'm 'ery smart!" he replied tilting his head still scribbling away with his crayon on a piece of paper.

Looking out of the far window she noticed that it was snowing and that the wind had gotten stronger. Amelia had always loved winter because of Christmas, but when the weather got bad she absolutely hated it. Only people who really have dealt with blizzards would know what she was talking about.

Silently, she made two cups of tea before returning to the sitting room, placing one in front of Paul and the other in front of herself. Her head rested in the palm of her hands while her elbows dug into the table. A light huff came past a pair of plump lips as she was exhausted with today's study session.

"So did I g-" Paul was quickly cut off by the small girl grabbing the paper and snatching the pencil before doing all of the equations on the sheet. "Thank you." paul sheepishly spoke with a little smile.

"Let's watch some telly." Amelia expressed tiredly as she had gotten up early and had been on her toes all day taking care of her brother. Traveling over to the decently sized television, she flicked through the channels before seeing the opening screen of The Wizard of Oz, one of her favorite movies.

A bright smile spread across her face, quickly moving over to the couch, she grabbed a few blankets and sat down. The boy packed up his school supplies before meeting the girl in the other room. Paul had ended up sitting next to her- but on the floor. This hadn't gone unnoticed as she reached forward and yanked on his hand trying to get him on the couch.

After the few minutes of the yanking continuing, he gave up and sat down next to her, leg to leg. their hands were still connected but they didn't notice. "Scotty!" amelia yelled which was soon followed by light slaps to the ground from the young boy's feet.

Scott saw his sister and Paul, then he looked over them and saw their intertwined hands and rushed over to sit between them. Well, sit on each of their legs as the two of them didn't move over.

The curtains in the sitting room were closed tightly to keep the light from outside out, the orange glow from the fire and the tv were the only things lighting up the room. From next to him, Paul grabbed a quilt that Amelia had thrown on the couch earlier and gently covered the three of them as it was still cold, even with the fire lit.

Around thirty minutes or so through the movie, Scott had fallen asleep. The sun had now gone down even though it wasn't late but because of the season. Suddenly the movie had started going out, pure static had begun covering the screen. Being the curious boy Paul had always been, he went and looked outside, it was almost purely white.
