"The Circus is were I want to be" Noah kept repeating himself while he was stabbing the heart of his target.Blood was now coloring his jester attire, which once was white and black, and his even whiter face.

"The Circus is my family" he was still repeating while the memories of the members of his 'family' were beating him and calling him useless were darkening his mind, making only a small and innocent tear fall from his right eye.

"The Circus cares about me",he repeated while he was committing a crime he never wanted to do but he was forced to. The target fell on the wall lifeless, another mission complete, but Noah kept stabbing out of frustration.Out of all the memories, the convinctions and the words stuck in his head that he kept repeating but not believing. He let go of the target and he fell on the opposite wall.

Even though everything was red and black in his eyes,he was in the city slums. His target was an old acquaintance of the Circus director,a friend maybe, but he probably did a certain mistake that gave the director a reason to ask for his death. Usually,it was Noah's task to 'eliminate' people who were against the Circus or,more correctly, against its director. Even though he wasn't the only killer in the 'family',he was special.

He,who had lost his heart and emotions, was able to control everyone's emotions as he pleased. It was easier for him to do this job,he just had to make his targets paralyze by fear and they had no chance to escape,or to fight back. While his head was resting on the wall,he took off his black mask, stained in blood as his hair, though they were darker than the mask,or even the night itself.

There were no stars that night and mist was hiding the slums from the rest of the city. After taking few breaths,he got up and took his black coat from his bag.He changed his stained gloves with another pair and washed his face in a drinking fountain he found around the corner. His walking figure in the mist gave him a strange effect,as if he was a creature of the mist itself.

He crossed the bridge that divided the richer area of city from the slums and he found himself in a festival. Lights of every color, kids shouting out of happiness, aristocrats walking and talking. In that colorful district he felt like the gray in every spectrum. He kept walking with his head looking at his feet when a running kid smacked into his legs. He was holding a ball and when he got up he looked straight at Noah's gray eyes with a big smile.

"Mister,do you want to play too?". That question was so unexpected, but Noah restricted himself from answering and while walking away he patted the kid's head with a faint smile.
After few minutes he reached the Circus, its marquee perfectly blending with the happy atmosphere of the festival. Though Noah knew that the happiness it was instilling was only thanks to a surface that was able to cover in such a good way its dark secrets.

"Is he the one?"                                                                                                                                                                       "Indeed he is"                                                                                                                                                                                Two figures were standing still among the hustle and bustle of the festival. The first to speak was a girl, skin as fair as a doll. Her slim yet frail looking frame was covered by a white coat with motives that reminded snowflakes. Pastel pink cascades fell from the brim of her long coat, the only visible part of her dress. But what caught the most the eyes of the passerby was her reddish brown hair, silky yet shiny like a jewel.

The gentleman who answered her question with a smile, stood next to her with a big brother aura, yet their features suggested that they were far from being related by blood. Although he was dressed in a quite bizarre and colorful way, ladies didn't spare themselves from staring at him, petrified by his charm. A dark red top head, matching his necktie, covered his chocolate milk short and straight hair,a lily had been carefully lied on the hat brim. A tail coat protected him from that frosty night, slightly showing the collar of his pale yellow shirt. He also wore white gloves, black pants and a pair of chestnut shoes that looked perfect for a wedding ceremony, and he would have looked just like an attendee of that event if the spectrum of the colors dressing him would have been more solemn. But if people in that street turned to catch a glimpse of the girl's hair, for the gentleman they couldn't help but get lost in his eyes: a calm and bright sea surrounding the pupils.

"The plan has to be put into practice tomorrow",he said with a firm voice.                                                     "You shouldn't haste so much while you are still recovering",she replied and she was right. The gentleman's gloved hand clutched a simple wooden cane, even if he looked ready to let it go anytime. More than a support it had turned into a habit to bring it along.                                                                               "That won't stop me,I mean us",he corrected himself before she could protest about letting him carry out the plan alone, and he knew that she would have never let him do that. She was worried about him and he didn't blame her, rather he appreciated that.                                                                                                "If we don't take action now, nobody will.",he continued,"That Circus is just too good at hiding facts".
