Toms family really were just as lovely as he and Harrison had attempted to assure me before dinner. I ended up sat between Tom and his brother Sam, with Paddy sat opposite me, squished between Harry and Harrison with Dom at the head of the table, Nicky at the end.

Tom would hold my hand under the table when I got nervous answering questions, and Sam caught onto the comforting action midway through the meal, pointing it out loudly causing my face to flush bright red and Tom to roll his eyes, not batting an eyelid at his brother's attempt at embarrassing him.

Nicky scolded Sam, telling him to leave off, Tom was just being sweet and that was something he should try some time.

"You don't need to do that," Nicky says to me at the end of the meal as I begin to stack the dishes. My face heated up at her noticing, the rest of the family had already moved into the other room, deciding on either a game to play or a film to watch to pass the time.

"Sorry," I apologise quickly, halting my actions but Nicky just laughs, waving me off.

"You're such a sweet girl," she comments, reaching over to collect glasses. "You're not used to this kind of life, are you?" The question doesn't seem rude or intrusive coming from her, simply curious and inquisitive.

"No, not really," I admit, laughing, picking up the plates and following my boyfriend's mother through to the kitchen, where I place the plates to the side of the sink and begin to run water. "I grew up on a farm," I tell her and Nicky smiles.

"I didn't grow up on a farm, but I certainly wasn't born into this," Nicky gestures around us at the magnificent kitchen, which was the kind of place my mother dreamed of owning. "We have a dishwasher," Nicky offers as I begin to wash. I don't comment, holding my tongue, not wanting to admit anything that may sound strange just yet, only hours after first meeting her.

"It's fine, I don't mind doing it," I assure her.

"You're good for Tom, I can tell," Nicky says after a moment of silence, her watching me as I washed each plate and placed them on the drying rack to drip-dry.

"Thanks?" I respond, almost as a question, unsure of what the correct response to that admission is.

"It's a good thing... I was beginning to suspect that my boy would never fall in love," Nicky admits to me.

"I-I'm not sure about love," I deny quickly, Tom and I having never spoken the words to one another before. Nicky lets out a soft laugh at that, taking up a dish towel and beginning to dry the plates.

"It's certainly something, my dear, he never shuts up about you," Nicky informs me and I duck down to avoid her seeing the huge grin on my face.

"What are you two doing? You know I have a maid to do that, right?" Nicky and I turn around to look at Tom who's lent against the doorframe, looking at us with an eyebrow quirked.

"Well, perhaps you should learn how to do things yourself and not take your maid for granted," I suggest, a coy smile in place as Tom sticks his tongue out at me.

"Y/N, were you aware you're dating a five year old?" Nicky asks me curiously and I laugh at her, passing her the next plate.

"No, I was under the impression I was dating someone in their twenties," I joke back and Nicky chuckles at me.

"I'm not sure it was a good idea for you two to meet after all," comes Tom's slow response and when I look back at him, he's looking between his mother and I, but there's an adoring smile on his face. "Pads decided on Cluedo, but two people are going to have to pair up,"
