The Path to Love

"Wake up!, c'mon Aiden get your lazy ass up" I could hear the annoyance in Kelly's voice as I ignored here. She knew I wasn't a morning person contrary to her. Kelly on the other had can be annoyingly hyper during the morning. 

"Aiden! C'mon!" Her voice started getting loder the more I ignored her and she also started rocking my body in an effort and get me out of bed. 

After several minutes of no result from my part I felt a sudden push and with a loud thud I ended up on the floor. 

"What the fuck, Kelly." I shouted with annoyance as I stood from the floor. I was glaring daggers at her. I mean seriously, I was never a morning person and hated being disrupted from my sleep, especially the way she had just woken me up.

"Get over yourself Aiden, it's 12 in the afternoon and you have an interview with Anchor Beach University at two so get your lazy ass up and get ready." She spoke seriously and shot me a quick look before leaving my bedroom and heading downstairs. 

The only reason I was getting up was because I was actually excited about my interview for ABU. I applied last year during my senior year and didn't really think much of it. It wasn't until two months ago that they called back asking to schedule an interview with me. I was beyond shocked, I mean don't get me wrong, I wasn't a terrible student but I also wasn't the brightest one either. I was what you called average, nothing more nothing less. Once I scheduled the interview the first people I told where my parents. They were beyond excited and my mom even had a few tears in her eyes, it wasn't long before my grandmother was calling and congratulating me. I didn't understand what the big deal was though, it was just an interview I didn't actually get in, yet.

But, needless to say my whole family including grandma Cici were beyond happy for me. And, after the whole ordeal with my family the next person I told was Kelly. She was worse than my mom she was also crying but at the same time hyperventilating. One would think the interview was herself by the way she was jumping and squealing.   

After a few weeks passed by, the whole situation actually dawned on me. I got an interview for ABU, me Aiden Cadwell had an actual interview for ABU. 

And today was the day, I didn't know what to wear because I was never really a formal person. I mean, am I suppose to wear a suit. Or can I just where regular jeans and a tank top. After about 5 minutes of contemplating on what to wear I finally decided to go half-half. I wore a pair of dark jeans and a button down navy colored shirt. I decided to roll up the sleeves half way and threw on a pair of suede boat shoes. My hair on the other hand was curly so I really couldn't style it in many forms, so I just ran my hand through it and decided that was enough. After another five minutes of brushing my teeth and washing my face I made my way downstairs and bumped into Kelly on my way to the kitchen.

She studided me for a few seconds and gave me a smile.

"You look nice."

"Thanks, I didn't know what to wear and decide half normal, half fancy if you can call it that.

"Well whatever you call it, it looks nice. You have my approval" she smiled and handed me a Dunkin Donuts iced coffee.

"I went to buy coffee while you were changing. There's a chocolate doughnut in the bag if you're hungry"

"Thanks, Kel. But I think I'll save that for later"

"Well, its already one you should be on your way"

"Yea, I know. Do you want me to drop you off home?"

"No thanks. Today is nice day for a walk and I think I'll head to the mall for a few hours"

"Alright then, I'll call you later" We walked outside of my house together and said our goodbyes soon after. 

After about a 20 minute ride I finally made it to ABU with 30 minutes to spare until my interview. There was a lot of people in the waiting area and it was quite intimidating. To think that only a few of us and not all of us would make the cut was nerve wrecking. It took me a few seconds to find a spare seat and when I did I recognized the girl sitting next me. 

"Hey, you're the girl that works in the DVD shop right?" She turned to me and looked at me questionably until her face lit up with recognition.

"Yea, and you're Thursday guy. You always come in to buy movies with the blonde girl"

"Yea, I guess that's is me. Thursday guy with the blonde girl." I chuckled at the thought of being referred to as a day of the week. 

"I'm sorry but I forgot your name" she smiled a soft smile and stretched out her hand to greet me. 

"Serena, my name is Serena."

"Well it's nice to formally meet you Serena, I'm Aiden. So, are you excited for your interview?"

"No, I'm beyond nervous. I'm actually surprised I even have an interview."

"Yea, I know what you mean. I always thought I would end up in community college definitely not here"

"Tell me about it, I was actually excited for community college and then BAM! I got a call from ABU asking to schedule an interview and my whole take on college changed. Don't get me wrong though I'm highly appreciative to the fact the ABU is interested in me, but I also feel weird about it. I don't know how to explain it, it's just weird to be here"

"No, I know what you mean. I never expected to be here either I also thought I'd end up with Kelly aka blonde Thursday girl in community college too. But here I am." She laughed when I referred to Kelly as blonde Thursday girl but nodded overall.

"So, I know this is a personal question but are you guys, like, dating? The whole DVD store refers to you as the Thursday couple."

"I've never in my life thought that I would be referred to or recognized do to a single day of the week, it's quite funny actually. But, no. Kelly and I are just friends. Best friends I guess."

"Really? Wow. I thought you guys were legit. You look cute together, maybe you should ask her out. On a date at least." I smiled at her, she wasn't the first person to think that Kelly and I were together. We are constantly together so its not a big leap. But, I never really thought of Kelly like that. I mean, dont get me wrong Kelly is fucking hot and not only that but she is actually beautiful herself and her personality. Actually thinking about it I don't think a date wont hurt anybody.

As I was about to answer Serena I heard my name being called to enter the interview room. I gave a slight huff and stood up mentally preparing myself for this interview. 

"It was nice taking to you Serena. I don't know, maybe I'll see you around campus"

"Yea, maybe. Good luck Aiden."

 I gave Serena a slight nod and made my way to the office. This was it. May God be with me.
